Samsara: If the assets are vehicles and mobile equipment rather than fixed rotating machinery

Wireless multi-point vibration and temperature monitoring sold as a monitored service, not software
As of 1 September 2026, Waites Sensor Technologies's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Waites sells nodes that monitor up to six measurement points each over a long-range radio link, with analysis included. Softwr lists it under Manufacturing. Waites Sensor Technologies is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Waites Sensor Technologies makes wireless condition monitoring hardware and the platform that interprets it. A node in a stainless steel housing collects full-spectrum vibration and temperature from up to six connected points, transmits over a proprietary long-range radio with a line-of-sight range around 3,000 feet, and runs for years on internal batteries. Data lands in a hosted platform that applies machine learning models and produces prescriptive findings, and the company offers analyst review as part of the engagement rather than as a separate consultancy. The multi-point node is the commercial distinction. Most wireless vibration vendors sell one sensor per bearing, so a motor and pump train needs four sensors, four batteries and four installations. A Waites node covering six points with wired accelerometers back to one radio changes the per-point cost and, more importantly, the per-point maintenance burden: one battery to replace instead of six, one radio link to keep alive instead of six. For a plant instrumenting hundreds of machines, that difference compounds into the ongoing cost of running the programme, which is where most condition monitoring deployments quietly fail. Buyers are manufacturing plants, food and beverage, pulp and paper, and heavy industry in North America. The trade-offs are proprietary lock-in and pricing opacity. The radio protocol, gateway, sensors and platform are one vendor’s stack, so the installed base cannot be re-pointed at another analytics product later; and Waites markets itself on being a fraction of competitors’ cost without publishing any figures, so the claim cannot be tested before a sales cycle.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Waites Sensor Technologies.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

AVEVA PI System: If the requirement is a plant-wide historian into which existing sensors already feed

Limble CMMS: If the gap is work order execution rather than sensing, since findings still need a maintenance system to act on

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
Up to six, using wired accelerometers back to a single wireless node.
Waites includes analyst review in its programme model rather than selling it as separate consultancy, which is the main structural difference from sensor-only vendors.
Around 3,000 feet line of sight, which usually means fewer gateways per plant than short-range mesh alternatives.
There is an API, but the sensors and radio are proprietary, so the data path runs through the Waites platform.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Waites Sensor Technologies, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
