Microsoft Is Charging 5% More To Pay Monthly From 1 October
From 1 October, paying for an annual Microsoft software subscription in monthly instalments costs 5% more than paying for it up front. It applies to SQL Server, Windows Server, Client Access Licenses and System Center bought through a partner. It does not arrive on 1 October for most people, which is the part worth understanding: it arrives at your renewal, and every organisation has a different one.

What we record
Features, pricing tiers, platform support and company details, taken from each product’s own documentation and pricing page. Two tools in the same category are described against the same checklist, so a gap in one is comparable to a gap in the other.
What a blank means
That we hold no record of it, not that the product lacks it. Comparison tables mark unknowns as unknown rather than as an absence, because a missing entry in our catalogue is a fact about us, not about the software.
Where ratings come from
Ratings shown alongside a product are aggregated from public sources so you can sort and shortlist quickly. Softwr does not host its own reviews, and every rating is labelled as an aggregate rather than presented as ours.
Which comparisons exist
Only pairs a person might genuinely weigh against each other. Two products sharing a category is not enough, they must share what they are for. That rule is why you will not find a page here comparing a music service to a video service.
