Soldo

Prepaid company card and spend control platform for European businesses

As of 1 September 2026, Soldo starts at £21/month. A European prepaid card and spend management platform priced as a monthly platform fee plus per-user charges, with per-card issuance fees on top. Softwr lists it under Accounting. Soldo is made by Soldo Limited, available on Web, iOS, Android.

Overview

What Soldo does

Soldo issues physical and virtual company cards funded from a central prepaid wallet, with budgets, spending rules and receipt capture attached to each card. Employees spend within limits set per card rather than against a shared credit line; every transaction requires a receipt and category before it is exported to accounting. It holds its own electronic money institution authorisations in the UK, Ireland and Italy. The prepaid model is the distinguishing point. Because Soldo is not extending credit, underwriting is light and early-stage or thin-file companies get approved where a US charge card issuer would decline them. The cost is that money must sit in the Soldo wallet before it can be spent, so a company running tight on cash can have cards decline at the till, and treasury has to manage a float that earns nothing. Buyers are European SMEs and mid-market finance teams, often ones with field staff, fuel and subscription spend to control. The trade-off is a pricing model that stacks: a monthly plan fee covering only a handful of users, per-user charges beyond that, and separate fees for issuing physical and virtual cards.

What people use it for

  • A construction firm giving site managers fuel and materials cards with hard per-card limits
  • A marketing team issuing virtual cards per subscription so a cancelled tool cannot keep billing
  • A UK company that cannot get approved for a credit-based corporate card programme
  • A multi-entity European business needing EUR and GBP wallets without conversion on every purchase

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Soldo.

  • Cards are prepaid, so if the central wallet runs low the cards decline in front of a supplier, and treasury has to keep an idle float funded rather than using a credit line.
  • The plan fee covers only three users, and per-user charges plus physical card fees mean the real monthly cost is several times the advertised headline for a team of twenty.
  • It does not extend credit, so it gives no working capital benefit and no card rewards of the kind US charge card issuers use to offset their cost.
  • Sole traders and some business types are not accepted, which catches out small consultancies expecting to sign up online.
  • Coverage is European; a company with US or Asian subsidiaries will need a second card programme and a second expense workflow for them.

Answered, with sources

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Is Soldo a credit card?

No. It is prepaid electronic money. You fund a wallet and cards spend from it, so there is no credit line and no interest-free period.

What licence does Soldo hold?

Soldo is authorised as an electronic money institution, including UK, Irish and Italian entities, which is why it can issue cards without a sponsor bank in those markets.

What does it really cost for twenty users?

Take the plan fee, add the per-user rate for the seventeen users beyond the included three, then add card issuance fees per physical card.
