Ramp: A free corporate card and spend platform with far deeper controls and approvals

SaaS and cloud spend management that charges a share of the savings it finds rather than a licence
As of 31 August 2026, Spendbase is free to use. A spend visibility tool, discount marketplace and virtual card issuer aimed at startups. Softwr lists it under Accounting. Spendbase is available on Web.
Overview
Spendbase combines three things: visibility over software and cloud subscriptions, a marketplace of negotiated SaaS and cloud discounts including substantial Azure credit allocations, and virtual cards with EUR and GBP accounts through regulated banking partners. Founded in 2022 and registered in Delaware, it targets startups and small technology companies rather than enterprises. The pricing model is what makes it worth examining. The card and banking tier is genuinely free at zero per user per month, with cashback on spend. The spend management service is paid from savings, historically around a quarter of what it saves you, and the company advertises a 200 percent return guarantee against a deposit. This is fundamentally a broker model dressed as software: the incentive is to find headline savings, and the customer has limited ability to verify a counterfactual price they never saw. Ask precisely how a saving is defined, against what baseline, and over what period, before agreeing a share. The buyer is a startup or small company spending meaningful money on cloud and SaaS without a procurement function. The trade-off is that Spendbase is small, young and part banking provider, so the concentration risk of holding operating funds and negotiating your vendor contracts through the same young company is a genuine consideration for a finance lead.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Spendbase.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Spendbase, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
