Cledara: Cheaper and published-priced for managing software subscriptions, without negotiation services

Software procurement combining a workflow platform with human negotiators and price benchmarks
As of 31 August 2026, Tropic's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Tropic sells procurement software plus people: its negotiators handle supplier conversations using price data from a very large body of completed negotiations. Softwr lists it under Accounting. Tropic is available on Web.
Overview
Tropic manages software and AI spend: a contract and renewal repository, intake and approval workflow, spend and consumption reporting, and supplier alerts on pricing and packaging changes. Around that sits a service layer where Tropic staff advise on or run negotiations with software vendors on the customer's behalf. The distinguishing asset is the pricing intelligence. Tropic reports spend under management in the tens of billions of dollars and intelligence drawn from more than a hundred thousand completed negotiations, which it uses to tell a customer what comparable companies actually paid for a given product at a given tier. A finance team negotiating a renewal blind against a vendor that knows exactly what everyone pays is at a structural disadvantage, and buying that asymmetry back is the honest reason to sign. Buyers are mid-market and enterprise technology-heavy companies with large and growing SaaS and AI bills. The trade-off is that the value is concentrated in commonly bought software: benchmarks are thin for niche, industry-specific or regionally sold products, and if a large share of your spend is with such vendors, the intelligence you are buying does not cover it. Pricing is quoted, and the fee should be justified against realised savings rather than the software features.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Tropic.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Price intelligence and negotiation capacity, wrapped in a contract and renewal management tool. The benchmark data is the asset; the workflow is table stakes.
Less well. Benchmarks are strongest on widely purchased SaaS. Ask for coverage on your top ten suppliers by spend before signing.
Not independently. Savings are measured against an estimated market price, so treat the figures as directional and negotiate the fee accordingly.
No. It is software and AI spend. Services, facilities and goods need a general procurement tool.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Tropic, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
