Bill.com: A simpler AP and payments tool for smaller finance teams

Accounts payable automation and supplier payments for mid-market finance teams, Marlin Equity owned
As of 31 August 2026, Medius's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. AP invoice capture, coding, approval and payment for mid-sized companies, with sourcing and procurement modules alongside. Softwr lists it under Accounting. Medius is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Medius automates accounts payable: invoice capture and data extraction, automatic coding, two and three-way matching against purchase orders and receipts, approval routing, fraud and anomaly detection, supplier payment execution and analytics. Around that core it sells strategic sourcing, contract management, procurement and supplier management modules, and it integrates with rather than replaces the ERP. The positioning worth understanding is that Medius starts from finance rather than procurement. Most spend management vendors approach the problem from the purchase order and treat invoices as the tail end; Medius approaches it from the invoice and treats procurement as the front end. That makes it a better fit for companies where most spend arrives as an invoice with no purchase order behind it, which is the actual state of most mid-market businesses. It also means Medius competes directly with AP automation specialists as often as with procurement suites, and buyers should be clear which comparison they are running. Medius is Swedish in origin and has been owned by Marlin Equity Partners since 2017, which has funded a series of acquisitions in payments and AP. Pricing is quote-only across two AP automation packages plus modules. The trade-off is that the procurement and sourcing modules are noticeably shallower than the AP core, so an organisation buying Medius primarily for sourcing is buying the weakest part of the product.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Medius.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.
