What Included Health does
Included Health is a healthcare navigation and virtual care company serving self funded employers and health plans in the United States. It is the result of Grand Rounds Health and Doctor On Demand merging in May 2021 and then acquiring Included Health, the LGBTQ+ care concierge service whose name the combined company took in late 2021. What a member gets is a single front door: help finding a high quality in network provider, expert medical opinion on a serious diagnosis, benefits questions answered, and virtual primary care, behavioural health and urgent care delivered by the company own clinicians. The structural argument is that navigation and care delivery are usually bought from different vendors, which means the navigator recommending a provider has no ability to deliver care itself, and the virtual care vendor has no view of the member wider benefits. Included Health owns both sides, so a navigation interaction can end in a booked virtual visit rather than a referral into a gap. That integration is the reason to pay a single per employee per month fee rather than assembling point solutions. Buyers are large self funded employers and health plans. The trade off is that consolidating navigation and virtual care into one vendor concentrates both the clinical delivery and the steerage recommendations in one commercial party.
