What Ignition does

Ignition is an industrial automation platform from Inductive Automation covering SCADA, HMI, historian and MES functions. It connects to PLCs and industrial equipment, visualises plant data and stores it for analysis. Its commercial model is the differentiator and the reason it displaced incumbents. Traditional industrial software is licensed per tag, per client or per screen, which makes adding a fifth operator terminal a purchasing decision. Ignition licenses per server with unlimited clients, tags and connections, so the cost stops scaling with how widely it is used.
