The short version
- Each has a real cost: FieldEdge there is no published rate card whatsoever, and reported figures cluster around 100 US dollars per office user and 125 per technician per month, so a ten-person shop is looking at well over a thousand dollars a month before add-ons.; Tradify pricing is flat per user with no volume tiering, so a twenty person firm pays twenty times the headline rate and the economics get worse, not better, as you grow into the top of its stated market.
- They diverge on capability: FieldEdge covers Dispatch board, Tradify covers Quoting.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 31 August 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
FieldEdge
- An HVAC contractor with a decade of history in a QuickBooks Desktop company file needs field service software that syncs to it live rather than forcing a migration to QuickBooks Online.not Tradify
- A plumbing business selling annual maintenance contracts wants renewals, visit scheduling and revenue tracked automatically instead of on a spreadsheet the office manager owns.not Tradify
- A contractor wants technicians presenting good, better, best flat-rate options at the kitchen table to lift average ticket, using a maintained pricebook rather than one built in house.not Tradify
- A firm of thirty staff has outgrown paper dispatch but does not want a ServiceTitan implementation costing tens of thousands and taking months.not Tradify
Tradify
- A three person electrical contractor on Xero wants quotes, timesheets and invoices in one app and refuses to sit through a demo or pay a setup fee.not FieldEdge
- A plumbing firm needs technicians recording labour hours against jobs from a phone so the invoice reflects what was actually spent rather than what the office guessed.not FieldEdge
- A UK trade business wants published pricing in pounds it can budget against, instead of the quote-only approach ServiceTitan and FieldEdge take.not FieldEdge
- A builder wants to send professionally branded quotes fast enough to be first to respond, where the win rate depends on turnaround more than on document sophistication.not FieldEdge
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
FieldEdge
- There is no published rate card whatsoever, and reported figures cluster around 100 US dollars per office user and 125 per technician per month, so a ten-person shop is looking at well over a thousand dollars a month before add-ons.
- Implementation is chargeable, commonly reported between 500 and 2,000 US dollars depending on the training plan, which is a real cost small contractors do not budget for.
- Ownership by Xplor Technologies, a payments group, means the commercial incentive is to move you onto Xplor Pay processing, and the total cost of ownership therefore depends heavily on merchant rates that are negotiated rather than published.
- Features that competitors bundle are sold as add-ons, with advanced reporting, inventory management and additional technician mobile licences each reported as separate monthly line items that stack on top of the seat price.
- The office application carries its dESCO heritage and feels dated next to newer platforms, and it is US-centric: tax handling, payments and the pricebook content assume a North American business, so it is a poor fit outside the United States and Canada.
Tradify
- Pricing is flat per user with no volume tiering, so a twenty person firm pays twenty times the headline rate and the economics get worse, not better, as you grow into the top of its stated market.
- The advertised per-user price excludes SMS, which is charged per message, the Instant Website add-on at roughly ten pounds a month, and Stripe card processing fees, so a Pro seat sending two hundred texts a month can cost close to double the sticker price.
- There is no free tier and no permanently free single-user plan, so a sole trader testing the water is paying from the end of the trial.
- Inventory and stock control are minimal: it can bundle kits and raise purchase orders but will not track stock levels on vans or in a store, which rules it out for firms carrying real parts inventory.
- It has no service agreement, recurring maintenance contract or flat-rate pricebook functionality, so HVAC and other maintenance-contract businesses outgrow it quickly and end up moving to FieldEdge or ServiceTitan.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
FieldEdge: Who owns FieldEdge?
Xplor Technologies, a payments and commerce group formed from Clearent and Transaction Services Group. FieldEdge sits in its Field Services division and keeps its own name and product.
Tradify: How much does Tradify actually cost per month?
Around 47 US dollars per user per month on Lite, 51 on Pro and 61 on Plus, or roughly 34, 37 and 44 pounds in the UK. Multiply by every user, then add SMS and any add-ons.
FieldEdge: Does FieldEdge work with QuickBooks Desktop?
Yes, with a live two-way sync. This is the main reason contractors pick it over competitors that support only QuickBooks Online.
Tradify: Does Tradify replace my accounting software?
No. It syncs invoices and contacts to Xero, QuickBooks Online or MYOB, and you still need one of them.
FieldEdge: What does FieldEdge cost?
It is quote-only. Contractors commonly report around 100 US dollars per office user and 125 per technician per month, plus a setup fee and per-module add-ons.
Tradify: Is there a setup or implementation fee?
No. Unlike the enterprise field service platforms there is no onboarding charge, and most firms configure it themselves.
FieldEdge: Is it available outside the United States?
It is built for the US and Canadian home services market. Tax, payments and pricebook content assume North America.
Tradify: How big a team can it handle?
It is designed for roughly one to twenty users. Beyond that the flat per-user pricing and the lack of dispatch optimisation and service agreements start to hurt.
