Bonsai: Longer track record and a deeper feature set in the same all in one freelance category

Freelance business management with proposals, contracts, time tracking and invoicing in one subscription
As of 31 August 2026, Moxie's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Moxie is the product formerly sold as Hectic, renamed in 2022, so reviews and comparisons written under the old name describe the same software. Softwr lists it under Proposals. Moxie is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Moxie combines client and project management, proposals, contracts with electronic signature, time tracking, invoicing, expense capture and a client portal into a single subscription aimed at solo freelancers and very small studios. Proposals, contracts and invoices share the same client record, so accepting a proposal can create the project, start the contract and schedule the invoice without re entering anything. The rename from Hectic is a fact worth knowing before shortlisting, because a large share of the review material and comparison articles still circulating use the old name and describe pricing and features from an earlier product. Beyond that, the distinguishing choice is scope: Moxie deliberately covers the full workflow rather than one stage of it, on the argument that a freelancer paying separately for a proposal tool, a time tracker, an invoicing product and a scheduling link is paying four subscriptions and reconciling four sets of client records. The buyers are independent consultants, designers and developers billing a handful of clients at a time. The trade offs are the standard ones for bundles. Each individual module is weaker than the dedicated product it displaces, and because everything shares one data model, moving away later means untangling proposals, time entries and invoices from one export rather than switching one tool.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Moxie.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
Yes. It was renamed in 2022. Older reviews under the Hectic name describe the same software at an earlier stage.
The payment processor takes its standard card fee. Model that separately from the subscription when comparing total cost.
It is built for a solo operator. Subcontractors and multi person billing are handled awkwardly.
Yes, through the accounting integration, though most freelancers still reconcile manually at year end.
Exports exist, but the linked proposal, time and invoice data does not map cleanly onto separate replacement tools.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Moxie, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
