Prospero

Single-plan proposal writer built for freelancers rather than sales teams

As of 31 August 2026, Prospero's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A proposal tool with one product tier, unlimited proposals and built-in electronic signature, priced well below the sales-oriented products in this category. Softwr lists it under Proposals. Prospero is available on Web.

Overview

What Prospero does

Prospero generates client proposals from templates. You pick a template for your discipline, fill in scope, timeline and pricing, and send a hosted link. The client reads it in the browser and signs electronically at the end. It tracks whether the proposal was opened, records the signature, and stores reusable sections and pricing blocks so the next document is faster to produce. The distinguishing thing is what it deliberately leaves out. There is no configure-price-quote engine, no product catalogue with approval rules, no CRM, no pipeline reporting and no team permission model of any depth. That is why it costs a fraction of what PandaDoc or Proposify charge, and it is the right trade for a solo consultant, designer or developer whose bottleneck is writing the document rather than managing a sales team. A buyer who compares it feature by feature against the enterprise tools will find it short on nearly every line, and that comparison is the wrong one to be making. It sells to freelancers, very small studios and independent consultants. The limits appear as soon as more than one or two people are involved: there is no meaningful approval workflow, integration coverage is thin, and the analytics tell you a proposal was opened rather than which section the client lingered on. If proposals are the front end of a real sales process with handoffs and forecasting, this is the wrong tool and the money saved goes back out in workarounds.

What people use it for

  • A freelancer sending a few proposals a month who wants them to look professional without hiring a designer
  • Consultants who reuse the same scope and terms language and want it written once and stored
  • Anyone currently sending proposals as PDF attachments who wants open tracking and a signature
  • Very small studios where the entire sales process is one person and a calendar

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Prospero.

  • There is no product catalogue or configure-price-quote logic, so a business selling configurable products with rules and approvals prices every document by hand, with the error rate that implies.
  • Team features are shallow: no real approval chain, no content locking to stop junior staff editing legal terms, and no per-role permissions, so it stops scaling as soon as more than two people write proposals.
  • Analytics report that the proposal was opened rather than how long the client spent on each section, so you lose the buying-signal data the sales-oriented tools in this category are sold on.
  • Integration coverage is thin next to PandaDoc or Proposify, so pushing an accepted proposal into a CRM or accounting system usually means Zapier and manual field mapping you maintain yourself.
  • The vendor is very small, which is what keeps the price low, but feature requests move slowly and there is no enterprise support commitment to point at if the service is unavailable in the middle of a deal.

Answered, with sources

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Does it include electronic signature?

Yes. The client signs in the browser at the end of the proposal and you are notified when they do.

Is it suitable for a sales team?

No. There is no pipeline, no approval workflow and no quoting engine. It is built for one person writing their own proposals.

Why is no price listed here?

The vendor publishes current pricing and it is among the cheapest in this category, but the plan structure changes, so check the figure at source rather than trusting a cached one.

Can it handle proposals in other currencies?

Yes. It supports multiple currencies and languages, which matters for freelancers taking clients abroad.
