Mews: If you want a single vendor that bundles payments, POS and guest-facing tools rather than assembling them

API-first hotel property management platform sold per room with a monthly floor
As of 31 August 2026, Apaleo starts at €8/month. A cloud PMS built as an open API platform rather than a closed product, aimed at hotel and serviced apartment groups that intend to build or buy their own guest-facing layer. Softwr lists it under Travel. Apaleo is made by Apaleo GmbH, available on Web, API.
Overview
Apaleo is a property management system for hotels, serviced apartments and hybrid accommodation, run by Apaleo GmbH in Munich. It covers reservations, rate and inventory management, folio and invoicing, night audit and reporting, and connects to distribution and guest technology through its own marketplace, the Apaleo Store. Payments are handled through Apaleo Pay. What separates it from conventional PMS vendors is that every function is exposed through public REST APIs at no extra charge, and the vendor deliberately does not ship a front desk terminal experience meant to be the whole system. Most PMS vendors charge for API access, gate it behind a partner programme, or rate limit it so heavily that no serious integration is possible. Apaleo instead expects operators to assemble check-in kiosks, housekeeping tools, upselling and CRM from third parties. Commercially this is a bet: it lowers switching costs in both directions and makes the platform attractive to groups with a developer or an integration partner, while making it a poor fit for a property that wants one vendor to answer for everything. Buyers are typically European hotel groups, apartment hotel operators and new-build brands with fifty rooms and up, often ones running a lean or remote front desk. The trade-off is the assembly cost. Published pricing is €8 per room per month with a floor of €400 per month, so a forty room hotel pays the floor and effectively €10 per room, and the modules a traditional PMS would bundle arrive as separate subscriptions on top.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Apaleo.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.
