Overview

What Little Hotelier does

Little Hotelier is the small property product of SiteMinder, the Australian distribution company. It combines a simplified front desk, a booking engine and channel distribution in one subscription, with a mobile app intended for owners who run reception themselves. The scope is intentionally narrow: reservations, a calendar view, guest details, payments and channel connections, without the group blocks, catering or complex rate structures that larger systems carry. The distinguishing point is the parentage. Distribution runs on the same infrastructure as SiteMinder, which means the OTA connection list is far longer and better maintained than anything else in this size bracket, and channel mapping problems get resolved by a team that does this at scale. The corollary is that Little Hotelier is positioned as the bottom of a product ladder. As a property grows past the intended size, the natural next step presented is SiteMinder plus a separate PMS, which is a migration rather than a plan upgrade. The buyer is an owner operator with one property and fewer than twenty rooms who values simplicity over configurability. The trade-off is a hard ceiling. Reporting is basic, there is little scope for custom rate logic or automation, and the integration catalogue outside distribution is short, so anything unusual in the operation has to be handled outside the system.

What people use it for

  • A ten room guesthouse where the owner works reception and wants OTA sync without a separate channel manager contract
  • A hostel needing reliable Booking.com and Hostelworld connectivity more than deep property management features
  • A rural B and B replacing a spreadsheet and manual OTA extranet updates
  • A small property already comfortable with SiteMinder support and wanting one bill for distribution and front desk

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Little Hotelier.

  • The product is capped by design at small properties, so a hotel growing past roughly twenty rooms faces a migration rather than an upgrade, usually into SiteMinder plus a separate PMS.
  • Reporting is limited to basic occupancy and revenue summaries, which leaves owners exporting to a spreadsheet for anything an accountant or lender asks for.
  • Rate and package logic is simple, so properties with seasonal packages, meal plans or complex tax handling end up adjusting rates manually.
  • The non-distribution integration list is short, so accounting, door lock, POS or CRM tools outside the small supported set have to be handled by rekeying data.
  • Pricing is banded by room count and paid monthly per property, so an operator with three small properties pays three subscriptions with no consolidated view worth the name.

Answered, with sources

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Who owns Little Hotelier?

SiteMinder. It is the small property product line of the same company that sells the SiteMinder channel manager.

What happens when the property outgrows it?

Most operators move to a fuller PMS and keep SiteMinder for distribution. Expect a data migration rather than a plan change.

Does it include a channel manager?

Yes, built on the SiteMinder network, which is the main reason to choose it over other small property tools.

Can one login manage several properties?

Each property is a separate subscription and the multi-property view is thin, so operators of more than two or three properties usually look elsewhere.
