What Turvo does
Turvo is a transport management and collaboration platform aimed mainly at freight brokers, third-party logistics providers and shippers with an in-house brokerage. Its structure differs from a conventional TMS: instead of a load record that each party views through its own portal, Turvo puts the shipment in a shared feed where messages, documents, tracking updates and status changes sit against the same object, visible to whichever parties are permitted. The distinguishing bet is that the expensive part of freight brokerage is not planning but communication, the phone calls and email chains chasing a driver check-call or a missing proof of delivery. Turvo is designed so those exchanges become structured events on the load. Commercially this shows in headcount: brokers adopting it typically justify it on loads managed per operator rather than on rate savings. Lineage Logistics, one of the largest temperature-controlled warehouse operators in the world, acquired Turvo in June 2022 and runs it as a wholly owned subsidiary that still sells under its own brand. That ownership is the fact that should change a shortlist. If you are a 3PL or cold chain operator competing with Lineage, you are being asked to put your load and rate data into a platform owned by a competitor, and the contractual data separation is worth reading closely before signing.

- Turvo is owned by Lineage, a large cold storage and logistics operator, so competing 3PLs are placing operational and rate data with a platform under a competitor group; the separation is contractual, not structural.
- No pricing is published and third-party figures vary by an order of magnitude, from a few hundred to several thousand dollars a month, which makes early budgeting guesswork.
- The collaboration model only pays off if counterparties actually log in; brokers whose shippers and carriers stay on email get the cost of the platform without the headcount benefit.
- Accounting and settlement are functional but thinner than dedicated brokerage back-office systems, so many customers still run a separate finance package and reconcile between them.
- Coverage is North American truckload and less-than-truckload first; international, ocean and customs workflows are weak, so it does not suit a forwarder-led business.

Who owns Turvo?

Is Turvo a TMS or a visibility tool?

Is it suitable for a shipper with no brokerage?
