What Transporeon does

Transporeon is a cloud transport management platform covering freight sourcing, tendering, transport execution, dock and yard slot booking, real-time visibility and freight audit. It began in Ulm, Germany, and its density is in European road freight, where a large share of tier-one manufacturers and retailers already run tenders through it. What distinguishes it is that carriers do not pay to be reachable in the way they would on a shipper-owned portal, so the network exists before you buy. A shipper switching on Transporeon can usually issue a spot tender to incumbent hauliers within weeks rather than running a carrier onboarding programme. That network effect is also the commercial trap: the same hauliers are quoting to your competitors on the same screen, and price transparency runs both ways. Trimble acquired Transporeon in April 2023 for around 1.88 billion euro and has kept the brand while folding it into a wider Trimble transportation portfolio, including a Trimble TMS for Shippers built out of the acquisition. Buyers are European manufacturers, retailers and large logistics service providers with meaningful full-truckload and less-than-truckload volume. The trade-off is that this is a network subscription with per-transaction economics, not a system you own, and North American road freight coverage is thin compared with the European core.

No pricing is published anywhere, and the commercial model mixes subscription with per-transaction charges, so freight volume growth increases the bill in ways a flat SaaS budget will not predict.
Coverage is heavily European road freight; North American domestic truckload, ocean and air are much weaker, so a global shipper usually ends up running Transporeon alongside a second system rather than instead of one.
Carriers are pushed onto the platform by their customers rather than choosing it, so smaller hauliers often engage minimally, and visibility data quality varies sharply by carrier.
The Trimble acquisition has produced overlapping products, including a separate Trimble TMS for Shippers, and buyers report difficulty establishing which roadmap their module sits on.
Implementation depends on ERP master data quality for materials, locations and incoterms; organisations with inconsistent plant address data spend months on data cleansing before the first tender runs.
