What Alvys does
Alvys is a transportation management system delivered as a hosted web application, founded in 2020 and based in Nashville. It covers load entry, dispatch, driver assignment, document capture, invoicing and carrier settlements, with a driver mobile application for status updates and paperwork. It is sold to asset based carriers, freight brokers, and the growing number of companies that operate as both. The distinguishing point is that dual operation is the design assumption rather than an add on module. In the established systems a carrier that also brokers overflow freight either buys a second product or works around a data model built for owned trucks, which is why so many mid size trucking companies run two systems and reconcile between them. Alvys treats an owned truck and a purchased carrier as two ways of covering the same load, so the load record, the customer invoice and the profitability view do not split. Commercially that is worth real money to a company with fifty trucks and a brokerage desk, because it removes a reconciliation job and gives one margin number per load. Buyers are typically carriers and brokers in the twenty to three hundred truck range that have outgrown spreadsheets or a very basic system and cannot justify an enterprise implementation. The trade off is maturity. A system founded in 2020 has a shorter integration catalogue, fewer third party consultants who know it, and less coverage of the awkward cases such as multi currency cross border settlements, intermodal drayage accessorials and complex driver pay schemes that the older vendors accumulated over decades.

- Accounting depth is limited and most customers still run a general ledger in QuickBooks or similar, so the TMS is a subledger rather than the finance system.
- Complex driver pay schemes, cross border currency handling and heavy accessorial structures in drayage are areas where the older systems are more complete and where workarounds are still common.
- Pricing is not published, so a buyer cannot size the cost before entering a sales process, and per user pricing on a dispatch team with part time night staff can be an unpleasant surprise.
