One API across accounting, commerce, payments and advertising platforms
As of 31 August 2026, Rutter's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Rutter normalises data from accounting systems, e-commerce platforms, payment processors and ad accounts into a single schema. Softwr lists it under APIs. Rutter is available on Web, API.
Overview
Rutter is a unified API that connects to business software and returns a normalised data model. It covers four categories: accounting and ERP systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage Intacct and NetSuite, e-commerce platforms with orders, inventory and customers, payment processors with transactions, payouts and subscriptions, and advertising accounts with campaign performance. One integration and one schema replace separate connectors for each platform. The commercial argument is time to market for companies that underwrite or serve small businesses. A revenue-based lender needs a merchant's sales, payouts and accounting data before it can price a facility, and building and maintaining connectors to twenty platforms is a permanent engineering cost with no product differentiation. What separates the credible unified APIs from the rest is not how many logos they list but whether they support write operations, because reading a general ledger is straightforward and pushing a correctly formed journal entry into NetSuite or QuickBooks Desktop is not. Rutter covers the difficult on-premises and mid-market ERP cases including QuickBooks Desktop, which a surprising number of small businesses still run and which most unified APIs skip. There is a free starter tier limited to a thirty-day sandbox trial against a few accounting platforms, and full production access is custom priced. Buyers should be clear that a unified schema always loses fidelity: the fields every platform shares are the fields you get, and the platform-specific detail your underwriting model actually wants often requires passthrough calls, at which point you are writing per-platform logic again.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Rutter.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Yes, which distinguishes it from unified APIs that only cover cloud accounting, and matters because many small businesses still run it.
Yes. Invoices, bills and journal entries can be pushed into supported accounting systems, not only read.
There is a thirty day sandbox trial with test data. Production access requires a paid plan with quoted pricing.
Rutter supports passthrough requests to the underlying platform API, though using them reintroduces platform-specific code.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Rutter, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
