Vetstoria: If the only problem is online booking, a booking-first product writes into the diary more directly and costs less

Client reminders, two-way texting and a pet owner app that syncs with on-premise practice systems
As of 31 August 2026, PetDesk's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Client communication software for veterinary practices, assembled from several acquisitions. Softwr lists it under Veterinary. PetDesk is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
PetDesk handles the communication layer around a veterinary practice: appointment reminders, confirmations, two-way text messaging, a branded pet owner app, online booking requests, vaccination recalls and review requests. It reads appointment, patient and reminder data from the practice management system and writes confirmations and requests back. The distinguishing point is how it connects. Rather than depending on a vendor-supplied cloud API, PetDesk installs a connector on a machine inside the practice that reads the local database. That reaches on-premise systems that have no public API and whose vendors have no interest in providing one, which is a large part of the market. Competitors restricted to cloud integrations simply cannot sell to those practices. The consequence is that a small piece of infrastructure now lives on the practice network and must stay powered on, patched and connected, and if it stops, reminders quietly stop with it. Buyers are independent and small-group companion animal practices trying to reduce no-shows and phone volume, and groups standardising client communication across sites. PetDesk grew by acquiring competing products, so parts of the range overlap and a buyer should establish which app and which admin console they are actually being sold before signing.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about PetDesk.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources

Usually yes, through a connector installed on your network that reads the local database. Confirm whether your specific system supports two-way sync or only reading.
That depends on the practice system. With several of them a request arrives for staff to confirm and enter manually, so ask for your exact system before assuming automatic booking.
The practice is. PetDesk sends on your behalf, but the lawful basis, the consent record and the opt-out handling are your obligations as the sender.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for PetDesk, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
