ActiveCampaign: Larger ecosystem and more mature automation features for teams that do not need bundled analytics

Australian marketing automation with a customer data platform and analytics included rather than sold separately
As of 31 August 2026, Ortto's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Ortto bundles a customer data platform, email and SMS automation, live chat and a reporting layer that most rivals sell as a separate analytics purchase. Softwr lists it under Email Marketing. Ortto is available on Web, REST API.
Overview
Ortto is a Sydney company that sells marketing automation built on its own customer data platform, with email, SMS, push and in-app messaging, a live chat product called Talk, and a dashboard and reporting layer over the same event data. It was previously called Autopilot, a journey-builder product founded in 2012, and was rebranded and substantially rebuilt as Ortto in 2022. The commercially distinguishing choice is scope. Most tools at this price point make you buy a separate analytics or BI product to answer questions about the customer base, and a separate chat tool to talk to people on the site. Ortto includes both, which for a small team removes two subscriptions and, more usefully, removes the reconciliation work of explaining why the numbers in three tools disagree. The cost of that breadth is that each individual component is less deep than the specialist it replaces, most visibly in email template editing and in deliverability tooling. Buyers are SaaS and subscription businesses and smaller ecommerce teams, concentrated in Australia and New Zealand with a growing base in North America and Europe. The trade-offs are practical rather than architectural: the partner and agency ecosystem outside Australia is small, support hours follow Australian business time, and pricing counts contacts held rather than messages sent, so an unpruned database costs money every month whether or not it is mailed.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Ortto.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

It is the successor from the same company, rebranded in 2022 and substantially rebuilt. Older Autopilot tutorials no longer match the interface.
Yes. Pricing counts contacts stored, so unsubscribed and dormant records consume allowance until they are deleted.
For campaign, funnel and cohort reporting on its own event data, usually yes. For joins against finance or support data it cannot.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Ortto, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
