What Meru Health does
Meru Health is a digital mental health provider that treats depression, anxiety and burnout with a structured programme rather than an unbounded course of therapy. A member is assigned a licensed therapist, has access to psychiatric consultation where medication is indicated, completes daily in app practice drawn from cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness, and uses a heart rate variability biofeedback device. The programme runs to a defined length of around twelve weeks, and it launched Meru Health Advanced in May 2026 for higher acuity presentations. The company operates across multiple continents and holds collaborations with payers including Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. The defined episode length is the commercially important feature. Open ended therapy benefits are almost impossible for a payer to price because there is no natural endpoint, which is why employers cap sessions and health plans manage utilisation. A twelve week programme with a start and a finish converts mental health treatment into something a payer can underwrite as an episode, which is why Meru contracts with health plans as well as employers.
