Workforce and customer authentication from a certificate authority
As of 1 September 2026, Entrust Identity as a Service starts at $2/month. A cloud identity and multi-factor authentication service from Entrust, whose real differentiator is that the same company runs a public certificate authority and issues physical credentials. Softwr lists it under Cybersecurity. Entrust Identity as a Service is made by Entrust Corporation, available on Web, iOS, Android, Windows.
Overview
Entrust Identity as a Service provides single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, passwordless login, adaptive risk-based access and credential lifecycle management for workforce and consumer identities. It sits alongside Entrust Identity Enterprise, the on premises equivalent, and connects to Entrust's certificate services and physical credential issuance business. The distinguishing capability is breadth of authenticator support tied to PKI. Entrust supports a longer list of authenticator types than most competitors, including smart cards, physical and virtual tokens, grid cards and derived PIV credentials, and it can issue and manage the certificates behind them. Government agencies, defence contractors and banks with existing smart card estates find that mainstream cloud identity vendors handle these awkwardly or not at all, and that is the shortlist-deciding fact here. Buyers are government, financial services and regulated enterprises, often ones already buying Entrust certificates or card printers. The trade-off is that as a general purpose identity platform it is behind the specialists on developer experience, application integration catalogue and lifecycle governance, so an organisation without the PKI requirement is usually better served elsewhere. Published pricing starts around two US dollars per user per month for the standard workforce bundle, with higher tiers quoted.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Entrust Identity as a Service.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Multi-factor authentication is included in the workforce bundles rather than sold separately, which is not true of every competitor. Adaptive risk-based authentication sits in higher tiers.
No. Access certification, role mining and joiner-mover-leaver governance require a separate product such as SailPoint or Saviynt.
Almost always because of PKI, smart cards or derived credentials. Without that requirement the mainstream platforms are the stronger general purpose choice.
