Benchling: Larger vendor with deeper molecular biology tooling if your work is heavily sequence and construct based

No-code lab operating system combining LIMS, ELN and inventory for biotech teams
As of 31 August 2026, Scispot's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A configurable lab data platform aimed at biotechs that find traditional LIMS implementations too slow and expensive. Softwr lists it under Research. Scispot is available on Web, API.
Overview
Scispot is a laboratory data platform that combines LIMS, electronic lab notebook, sample and inventory management, instrument data capture and integrations into one configurable system. The design principle is no-code: workflows, sample types and data schemas are built through configuration rather than the multi-month professional services engagements that traditional LIMS vendors sell alongside their licences. It also exposes an API and data layer intended to let teams query laboratory data alongside their other systems rather than exporting spreadsheets. The distinguishing commercial claim is speed and predictability of deployment, and Scispot markets heavily against the cost structure of established LIMS vendors. The irony worth noting is that Scispot itself does not publish prices. Its pricing page presents four relative investment tiers denoted only by dollar signs, with actual figures released after a discovery call. Compliance is handled as scope rather than as a priced add-on: roles, electronic signatures, approvals, audit trails and validation support arrive with the mid tier, and the vendor is explicit that no platform makes a lab compliant by itself, which is honest but means the validation work and its cost still land with you. Buyers are seed to Series B biotechs, diagnostics companies and contract research organisations with a handful to a few dozen scientists, who need structure quickly and cannot absorb a year-long implementation. The trade-off is vendor scale: this is a young company holding your primary scientific record, and questions about longevity, escrow and export are legitimate parts of diligence rather than paranoia.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Scispot.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
It does not publish figures. The pricing page shows four relative investment tiers as dollar sign bands, with real numbers given after a discovery call.
It can be configured for Part 11 controlled workflows with roles, e-signatures, approvals and audit trails from the mid tier, and it supports ALCOA+ principles. Validation of your configuration is still your responsibility.
Both, plus inventory, in one subscription rather than separately licensed products.
Large regulated manufacturers with existing validated LIMS estates, and any lab that needs deep integration with an unusual analyser fleet.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Scispot, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish.
