Dovetail: If you want the larger repository ecosystem, richer integrations and can absorb per-seat pricing

UX research repository for tagging notes, building insights and finding them again years later
As of 31 August 2026, Aurelius starts at $49/month. A research repository built around analysis rather than recruitment or recording. Softwr lists it under Research. Aurelius is made by Aurelius Lab, available on Web.
Overview
Aurelius is a repository for user research. Teams import interview notes, transcripts and recordings, highlight passages, tag them against a controlled vocabulary, then group tagged evidence into insights and recommendations that persist independently of the project that produced them. Its analysis board is the working surface: highlights become cards, cards get clustered, and a clustered group becomes a written insight with the underlying evidence still attached. It also includes transcription, AI-assisted analysis and an automatic report builder. The distinguishing decision is commercial rather than technical: Aurelius charges a flat monthly fee with unlimited users on every plan, at 49 US dollars a month for Professional and 199 for Premium, both billed yearly, with unlimited projects and storage. Repositories are normally sold per seat, and the whole point of a repository is that people outside the research team read it. A design and product organisation of forty people that wants everyone able to search past findings pays the same 199 as a team of four. That single fact changes the total cost comparison against per-seat competitors more than any feature does. The honest limitation is scope. Aurelius does not recruit participants, does not run unmoderated tests, and does not host live sessions. It is the place findings live after the research happens, which means it sits alongside whatever you use to actually run studies rather than replacing it. Teams expecting an end-to-end research platform will need a second tool and a second budget line.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Aurelius.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Dovetail: If you want the larger repository ecosystem, richer integrations and can absorb per-seat pricing

Maze: If you need to actually run unmoderated tests as well as store the findings

Productboard: If the real problem is connecting research to roadmap decisions rather than storing evidence

Attest: If you need survey-based consumer research with a participant panel included

Yes. Professional at 49 US dollars a month and Premium at 199, both billed yearly, both with unlimited users, projects and storage.
No. Aurelius stores and analyses research; it does not recruit participants or host sessions. Pair it with a testing tool.
Premium adds universal cross-project search, collections, recommendations and Zapier. If your value comes from finding old research, Premium is the tier that delivers it.
Only on Enterprise, along with IP allowlisting, Jira and advanced permissions. Everything below is quoted separately.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Aurelius, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
