TravelPerk: If you want no minimum spend and a lighter contract for a smaller travel programme

Corporate online booking and travel management from Amex GBT for mid-market and enterprise programmes
As of 1 September 2026, Egencia's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A managed corporate travel programme with its own booking tool, now run inside American Express Global Business Travel. Softwr lists it under Travel. Egencia is made by American Express Global Business Travel, available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Egencia is an online booking tool wrapped in a managed travel programme: policy configuration, approval workflows, negotiated rate loading, duty of care reporting and agent support for the bookings the tool cannot complete. It covers air, hotel, car and rail, integrates to expense systems and pushes traveller tracking data to risk providers. The fact that changes a shortlist is ownership. Expedia sold Egencia to American Express Global Business Travel in 2021, and Amex GBT kept the brand rather than folding it in. Egencia now serves as the more self-service, lower-touch tier of the same group, with GBT content and supplier deals behind it, and since 2026 an integration to SAP Concur Expense plus an AI booking assistant. Buyers should treat Egencia and Amex GBT as two service levels from one supplier, and price them against each other rather than assuming they are independent bids. It suits organisations with a few hundred to a few thousand travellers who want negotiated content and consolidated reporting without the cost of a high-touch programme. The trade-off is the usual managed-TMC one: transaction fees, offline touch fees for complex itineraries, and a contract that assumes your bookings stay inside the tool.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Egencia.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Yes. Amex GBT bought it in 2021 and kept the brand, relaunching it in 2026 with a conversational AI assistant and a Concur Expense integration.
Egencia is the more self-service, lower-touch tier of the same company, aimed at mid-market programmes; Amex GBT proper is the high-touch enterprise service.
No. It books travel and feeds data to expense tools such as SAP Concur; you still need an expense product.
