TMW.Suite is a transportation management system for asset-based trucking companies. It covers order entry, dispatch, driver and equipment assignment, load planning, imaging, EDI, and, critically, driver and owner-operator settlement, which is where TMS products for carriers succeed or fail. It also spans fuel dispatch and bulk hauling, an area where its Fuel Dispatch capability and integrations with tank monitoring and route optimisation partners have kept it in petroleum distribution fleets that few generic TMS products serve well. The naming needs stating plainly. TMW Systems, the Ohio company that built the product, was acquired by Trimble in 2012 and the corporate entity has long since been folded into Trimble Transportation. But TMW.Suite persists as a product name that Trimble continues to sell, has moved to a cloud-hosted SaaS deployment, and roadmaps publicly. If a vendor tells you TMW no longer exists, they are describing the company, not the product you would be buying. Buyers are mid-size and large asset-based carriers, particularly in truckload, bulk and petroleum distribution in North America. The trade-off is weight. TMW.Suite is a deep, configurable, long-established system that takes months rather than weeks to implement, needs configuration expertise to change, and is priced by user and module through Trimble sales with nothing published. Implementation runs to months and depends on configuration expertise, so the professional services cost is a large multiple of the first-year subscription and the internal effort is larger still.
Pricing is by user and module with nothing published, so a carrier cannot benchmark a quote against alternatives without running a full procurement.
The product carries decades of accumulated capability and its interface and workflow reflect that, which lengthens training and makes dispatcher turnover more expensive than it would be on a modern lightweight TMS.
