The short version

  • Only Twain has a free tier, so it costs nothing to try first.
  • Each has a real cost: Regie.ai the seat minimums invert the pricing logic: AI SEP at 180 US dollars requires ten seats while Force Multiplier at 499 requires five, so a small team is pushed to the expensive tier or excluded entirely.; Twain twain researches and writes but does not send, so a sequencer subscription and, in most cases, a data vendor sit on top of the reported $185 a month, and the total stack cost is what you should be comparing.
  • They diverge on capability: Regie.ai covers AI sales agents, Twain covers Live prospect research.
  • Prices and features above were last checked on 31 August 2026.

What people use each for

The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.

Regie.ai

  • A sales team asked to double outbound coverage without adding SDR headcount, using agents to work the long tail of accounts nobody currently touchesnot Twain
  • A company with a large dormant contact database that needs systematic re-engagement rather than a one-off campaignnot Twain
  • A revenue leader who wants outbound messaging to stay on brand across a team where message quality currently varies by repnot Twain
  • A team consolidating a sequencer, a dialler and an AI writing tool into one contract to reduce vendor countnot Twain

Twain

  • A team running lemlist or Outreach that wants each prospect researched and the first line written without adding another interface to the rep workflow.not Regie.ai
  • An agency generating outbound copy for several clients that needs research and drafting metered by volume rather than by seat.not Regie.ai
  • A revenue operations team wanting to embed personalised copy generation into an existing sequence via API rather than buying a full replacement platform.not Regie.ai
  • A founder-led sales motion sending low volume but high-effort outreach, where researching each account manually is the actual bottleneck.not Regie.ai

Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

Regie.ai

  • The seat minimums invert the pricing logic: AI SEP at 180 US dollars requires ten seats while Force Multiplier at 499 requires five, so a small team is pushed to the expensive tier or excluded entirely.
  • Autonomous agents amplify whatever list quality you feed them, and a poorly segmented database produces high-volume irrelevant outbound that damages your sending domain reputation rather than the vendor.
  • Contact and account allocations on Force Multiplier are capped at 1,000 accounts and 4,000 contacts per seat, so a team working a large territory hits an overage conversation partway through the contract year.
  • It occupies the same ground as established sales engagement platforms while being much younger, so integrations and admin controls are thinner than teams migrating from Outreach or Salesloft expect.
  • Agent-written messaging still needs human review to avoid errors that reach prospects, which means the headcount saving is smaller than the pitch implies once someone is assigned to check the output.

Twain

  • Twain researches and writes but does not send, so a sequencer subscription and, in most cases, a data vendor sit on top of the reported $185 a month, and the total stack cost is what you should be comparing.
  • Credits are consumed per lead researched rather than per usable email produced, so a poor list burns credits and returns nothing, transferring the cost of list hygiene entirely to you.
  • Reviewers report generic and insufficiently industry-specific output, along with generated wording they would never use, and there is no blanket blocklist or banned-words control, which is a blocker for brand-sensitive or regulated senders.
  • Persona management scales badly: reviewers report having to re-import all company data every time a new persona is added, which is painful for agencies and multi-product teams.
  • The company has publicly disclosed only a 2.5 million euro pre-seed from May 2022 and has since executed a full product pivot, so the risk of another pivot or a shutdown mid-contract is elevated; avoid annual prepayment and deep API coupling without an export route.
  • Integration and documentation surface is thin after the pivot: the legacy connector list is not confirmed on the current site, and for a product marketed as API-first the developer documentation is a genuine gap.
  • Pricing figures load client-side and are largely third-party sourced, and there is effectively one paid plan rather than a tier ladder, so budgeting requires an in-app check rather than a published page.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages

Regie.ai: What is the minimum I can spend?

1,800 US dollars a month for AI SEP at its ten-seat minimum, or 2,495 a month for Force Multiplier at its five-seat minimum, both on annual terms.

Twain: Is this the email critique tool from a few years ago?

No. Twain pivoted. The $19 a month email scoring assistant is gone. The current product is a research agent that generates outreach, priced per lead researched.

Regie.ai: Does it replace SDRs?

It replaces some of the volume work, not the judgement. Teams still assign someone to review agent output, which reduces but does not eliminate the headcount argument.

Twain: Does Twain send the emails?

No. It researches and writes. You still need a sequencer, and Twain is designed to plug into one via API.

Regie.ai: Does it replace Outreach or Salesloft?

It is sold as a replacement and covers sequencing and dialling, but admin depth and integration breadth are narrower than the incumbents.

Twain: Can I try it without paying?

Yes. The free tier covers 500 contacts with no card required.

Regie.ai: Are contacts included?

Force Multiplier includes 1,000 accounts and 4,000 contacts per seat with custom enrichment. Beyond that you are into an overage discussion.

Twain: Who does it compete with now?

Clay, Coldreach and Unify, not Lavender or Regie. The pivot moved it into a different category and a different budget line.
