The short version
- Each has a real cost: Prodsmart the product has been absorbed into the Autodesk Fusion family, so the standalone brand, pricing page and channel that earlier reviews describe no longer reflect how it is bought, and buyers must evaluate the current Autodesk packaging instead.; Waites Sensor Technologies the radio protocol, gateways, sensors and analytics are a single proprietary stack, so the hardware investment cannot later be redirected at a different analytics vendor.
- They diverge on capability: Prodsmart covers Mobile shop floor declarations, Waites Sensor Technologies covers Multi-point nodes.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Prodsmart
- A small manufacturer with older machines that cannot be connected to any network without a costly retrofitnot Waites Sensor Technologies
- A plant that needs lot traceability for a customer or regulatory audit and currently keeps it on papernot Waites Sensor Technologies
- A shop wanting live work order status without installing terminals and cabling on the floornot Waites Sensor Technologies
- An Autodesk Fusion user looking for an operations layer from the same vendor as its CAD and CAMnot Waites Sensor Technologies
Waites Sensor Technologies
- A plant instrumenting hundreds of motor and pump trains where six-point nodes cut the battery and radio maintenance burdennot Prodsmart
- A food processing site needing washdown-rated wireless sensors that survive daily sanitationnot Prodsmart
- Monitoring high-temperature equipment where conventional wireless sensors fail before the bearing doesnot Prodsmart
- A reliability team with no in-house vibration analyst that needs findings, not spectra, delivered as a servicenot Prodsmart
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Prodsmart
- The product has been absorbed into the Autodesk Fusion family, so the standalone brand, pricing page and channel that earlier reviews describe no longer reflect how it is bought, and buyers must evaluate the current Autodesk packaging instead.
- All data originates from operator declarations, so accuracy depends entirely on shop floor discipline, and a plant that cannot enforce scanning gets confident charts built on incomplete input.
- Because it reads nothing from machines, it cannot detect a stoppage the operator does not report, which means downtime analysis captures what people admit to rather than what happened.
- Scheduling and planning are shallow compared with a full MES or ERP, so most customers still plan elsewhere and use Prodsmart for execution only.
- Support and account management now run through a very large software vendor, and small manufacturers frequently report longer response paths than they had with the original company.
Waites Sensor Technologies
- The radio protocol, gateways, sensors and analytics are a single proprietary stack, so the hardware investment cannot later be redirected at a different analytics vendor.
- No pricing is published while the marketing claims a fraction of competitors cost, so the central claim cannot be verified without entering a sales process.
- A multi-point node is a single point of failure for six measurement points; when the node or its battery fails, six machines go dark rather than one.
- Wired accelerometer runs back to the node reintroduce cable routing and mechanical protection work that single-sensor wireless products were meant to eliminate.
- The company is small and its presence is concentrated in North America, so installation support, spares and analyst coverage outside that region depend on partners rather than direct service.

Questions people ask
- Is Prodsmart or Waites Sensor Technologies better?
- Neither clearly leads. Prodsmart starts at On request and Waites Sensor Technologies at On request, and user ratings are close enough to be indistinguishable. Choose on capability and platform support.
- Which is cheaper, Prodsmart or Waites Sensor Technologies?
- Prodsmart starts at On request and Waites Sensor Technologies at On request.
- Does Prodsmart or Waites Sensor Technologies run on more platforms?
- Both run on Web, iOS, Android, so platform support will not decide this one for you.
- What is Prodsmart best used for?
- Prodsmart is most often used for a small manufacturer with older machines that cannot be connected to any network without a costly retrofit, a plant that needs lot traceability for a customer or regulatory audit and currently keeps it on paper, a shop wanting live work order status without installing terminals and cabling on the floor, an autodesk fusion user looking for an operations layer from the same vendor as its cad and cam. Of those, a small manufacturer with older machines that cannot be connected to any network without a costly retrofit and a plant that needs lot traceability for a customer or regulatory audit and currently keeps it on paper are not what Waites Sensor Technologies is typically brought in for.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Prodsmart: Who owns Prodsmart?
Autodesk acquired it in 2022 and has integrated it into the Fusion product family as its operations offering.
Waites Sensor Technologies: How many points does one node monitor?
Up to six, using wired accelerometers back to a single wireless node.
Prodsmart: Does it need my machines to be connected?
No. That is the central design decision. Operators declare production on mobile devices.
Waites Sensor Technologies: Is analyst review included?
Waites includes analyst review in its programme model rather than selling it as separate consultancy, which is the main structural difference from sensor-only vendors.
Prodsmart: Is it a full MES?
It covers execution, traceability and basic OEE. Detailed scheduling, quality workflows and controller level data are not its scope.
Waites Sensor Technologies: What is the wireless range?
Around 3,000 feet line of sight, which usually means fewer gateways per plant than short-range mesh alternatives.
Prodsmart: Can I still buy it as a standalone product?
It is sold through Autodesk. Confirm the current packaging and pricing with Autodesk rather than relying on pre acquisition material.
Waites Sensor Technologies: Can I export the raw data?
There is an API, but the sensors and radio are proprietary, so the data path runs through the Waites platform.
