The short version
- Each has a real cost: Prodsmart the product has been absorbed into the Autodesk Fusion family, so the standalone brand, pricing page and channel that earlier reviews describe no longer reflect how it is bought, and buyers must evaluate the current Autodesk packaging instead.; PROGNOST Systems nothing about price is published, and because the system is instrumented per machine train, there is no per-point comparison that lets a buyer benchmark it against general-purpose condition monitoring.
- They diverge on capability: Prodsmart covers Mobile shop floor declarations, PROGNOST Systems covers Segmented vibration analysis.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Prodsmart
- A small manufacturer with older machines that cannot be connected to any network without a costly retrofitnot PROGNOST Systems
- A plant that needs lot traceability for a customer or regulatory audit and currently keeps it on papernot PROGNOST Systems
- A shop wanting live work order status without installing terminals and cabling on the floornot PROGNOST Systems
- An Autodesk Fusion user looking for an operations layer from the same vendor as its CAD and CAMnot PROGNOST Systems
PROGNOST Systems

- Replacing a separate protection system and a separate condition monitoring system with one SIL 3 rated installationnot Prodsmart
- Gas transmission stations needing valve and rider ring wear diagnosis without opening the machinenot Prodsmart
- A plant moving reciprocating compressors from time-based overhaul to condition-based intervals with evidence a regulator will acceptnot Prodsmart
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Prodsmart
- The product has been absorbed into the Autodesk Fusion family, so the standalone brand, pricing page and channel that earlier reviews describe no longer reflect how it is bought, and buyers must evaluate the current Autodesk packaging instead.
- All data originates from operator declarations, so accuracy depends entirely on shop floor discipline, and a plant that cannot enforce scanning gets confident charts built on incomplete input.
- Because it reads nothing from machines, it cannot detect a stoppage the operator does not report, which means downtime analysis captures what people admit to rather than what happened.
- Scheduling and planning are shallow compared with a full MES or ERP, so most customers still plan elsewhere and use Prodsmart for execution only.
- Support and account management now run through a very large software vendor, and small manufacturers frequently report longer response paths than they had with the original company.
PROGNOST Systems
- Nothing about price is published, and because the system is instrumented per machine train, there is no per-point comparison that lets a buyer benchmark it against general-purpose condition monitoring.
- Installation requires proximity probes, rod position sensors and pressure instrumentation on the machine, which usually means a planned outage and mechanical work before any data exists.
- The value is concentrated in reciprocating compressors; for general rotating equipment across a whole plant it is a far more expensive route than a broad vibration programme.
- SIL 3 certification brings the configuration into functional safety scope, so changes to thresholds and logic go through management of change rather than being adjusted by a reliability engineer.
- The company is small and German-based, so response times and spares logistics for remote sites depend on a partner network rather than a global direct service organisation.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Prodsmart: Who owns Prodsmart?
Autodesk acquired it in 2022 and has integrated it into the Fusion product family as its operations offering.
PROGNOST Systems: Does it replace the compressor protection system?
It can. PROGNOST-NT is SIL 3 rated for machine protection, which is the main reason sites choose it over advisory-only monitoring.
Prodsmart: Does it need my machines to be connected?
No. That is the central design decision. Operators declare production on mobile devices.
PROGNOST Systems: Can it be retrofitted to an existing compressor?
Yes, but fitting rod position and internal instrumentation generally needs a machine outage.
Prodsmart: Is it a full MES?
It covers execution, traceability and basic OEE. Detailed scheduling, quality workflows and controller level data are not its scope.
PROGNOST Systems: Does it work on centrifugal machines?
PROGNOST offers products for general rotating equipment, but the differentiated diagnostics are for reciprocating compressors.
Prodsmart: Can I still buy it as a standalone product?
It is sold through Autodesk. Confirm the current packaging and pricing with Autodesk rather than relying on pre acquisition material.
PROGNOST Systems: Is it available on new Burckhardt machines?
Yes, Burckhardt Compression offers PROGNOST-NT as a factory-fitted condition monitoring option.
