The short version

  • Each has a real cost: Augury the per-machine annual fee never stops, so over a five to eight year horizon the total exceeds buying sensors and software outright and running the programme yourself.; Prodsmart the product has been absorbed into the Autodesk Fusion family, so the standalone brand, pricing page and channel that earlier reviews describe no longer reflect how it is bought, and buyers must evaluate the current Autodesk packaging instead.
  • They diverge on capability: Augury covers Halo sensors, Prodsmart covers Mobile shop floor declarations.
  • Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for

The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.

Augury

  • A food plant with 200 similar motors and pumps and no vibration analyst on staffnot Prodsmart
  • A multi-site manufacturer that needs one reliability picture across plants without standardising their maintenance teamsnot Prodsmart
  • An operator whose capex budget will not approve sensor hardware but whose opex budget will approve a servicenot Prodsmart
  • A site trying to move from calendar-based motor overhauls to condition-based intervals with defensible evidencenot Prodsmart

Prodsmart

  • A small manufacturer with older machines that cannot be connected to any network without a costly retrofitnot Augury
  • A plant that needs lot traceability for a customer or regulatory audit and currently keeps it on papernot Augury
  • A shop wanting live work order status without installing terminals and cabling on the floornot Augury
  • An Autodesk Fusion user looking for an operations layer from the same vendor as its CAD and CAMnot Augury

Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

Augury

  • The per-machine annual fee never stops, so over a five to eight year horizon the total exceeds buying sensors and software outright and running the programme yourself.
  • Coverage is aimed at standard rotating equipment; reciprocating compressors, very low-speed machinery and non-rotating assets are poorly served, so you still need a second monitoring approach.
  • Diagnoses depend on Augurys analysts, which means the quality of your programme is set by a vendor queue you do not control and turnaround is not something you can escalate internally.
  • The sensors and the analytics are one system, so leaving Augury means removing the hardware and starting again; there is no path to keep the sensors and change the software.
  • Pricing is unpublished and negotiated per fleet, so buyers have no benchmark and comparable plants can pay materially different per-machine rates.

Prodsmart

  • The product has been absorbed into the Autodesk Fusion family, so the standalone brand, pricing page and channel that earlier reviews describe no longer reflect how it is bought, and buyers must evaluate the current Autodesk packaging instead.
  • All data originates from operator declarations, so accuracy depends entirely on shop floor discipline, and a plant that cannot enforce scanning gets confident charts built on incomplete input.
  • Because it reads nothing from machines, it cannot detect a stoppage the operator does not report, which means downtime analysis captures what people admit to rather than what happened.
  • Scheduling and planning are shallow compared with a full MES or ERP, so most customers still plan elsewhere and use Prodsmart for execution only.
  • Support and account management now run through a very large software vendor, and small manufacturers frequently report longer response paths than they had with the original company.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages

Augury: Do I buy the sensors?

No. Sensors, gateways, connectivity and installation are included in the per-machine annual fee.

Prodsmart: Who owns Prodsmart?

Autodesk acquired it in 2022 and has integrated it into the Fusion product family as its operations offering.

Augury: Is there a per-user licence?

No. The web application allows unlimited users; the meter is monitored machines.

Prodsmart: Does it need my machines to be connected?

No. That is the central design decision. Operators declare production on mobile devices.

Augury: Who does the diagnosis?

Machine-learning models flag issues and Augury vibration analysts review them before a finding is released to you.

Prodsmart: Is it a full MES?

It covers execution, traceability and basic OEE. Detailed scheduling, quality workflows and controller level data are not its scope.

Augury: What happens if we cancel?

The sensors are part of the service and monitoring stops; you do not retain a usable standalone system.

Prodsmart: Can I still buy it as a standalone product?

It is sold through Autodesk. Confirm the current packaging and pricing with Autodesk rather than relying on pre acquisition material.
