Combined EAM and CMMS for utilities and municipalities with Esri GIS at the centre of the asset register
As of 1 September 2026, NEXGEN Asset Management's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Priced on assets under management rather than users, which suits a public works department with fifty staff and two hundred thousand assets and penalises the opposite shape of organisation. Softwr lists it under Government. NEXGEN Asset Management is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
NEXGEN Asset Management is an enterprise asset management and CMMS product aimed at water and wastewater utilities, cities, counties, airports and school districts. It combines a GIS-linked asset register, work order and preventive maintenance management, risk and criticality scoring, condition assessment, capital planning and a mobile field application. It is an Esri partner solution, so ArcGIS layers act as the asset map rather than as a bolted-on view. The distinguishing commercial detail is the pricing unit. NEXGEN prices on the number of assets under management rather than per named user. For a municipality with a small maintenance team and hundreds of thousands of pipe segments, hydrants, valves and signs, that is either an advantage or a trap depending on how granular your GIS layers are, because the same physical network can be modelled as ten thousand assets or two hundred thousand depending on segmentation choices made years ago by someone in the GIS team. Nothing is published, so the only way to find out is to be quoted. Who buys it: North American public agencies, particularly water and wastewater utilities, that need condition-based capital planning defensible to a board or council alongside day-to-day work orders. The trade-off is that NEXGEN is a small vendor with a regional footprint, its user interface shows its age against newer CMMS products, and the asset-based pricing makes cost forecasting awkward when GIS remodelling changes your asset count.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about NEXGEN Asset Management.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for NEXGEN Asset Management, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
