Fluxx

Configurable grants management for foundations that run complex, multi-stage funding programmes

As of 31 August 2026, Fluxx's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Grantmaking software for large foundations and government funders, built as a configurable data model rather than a fixed workflow. Softwr lists it under Nonprofits. Fluxx is made by Fluxx Labs, Inc., available on Web.

Overview

What Fluxx does

Fluxx Grantmaker is a cloud grants management system used by private foundations, community foundations, corporate funders and public agencies. It handles the full grantmaking cycle: eligibility screening, letters of inquiry, full applications, board review, payment scheduling, requirements and reporting, and outcome data. A companion product, Fluxx Grantseeker, is the free portal that applicants use to submit to any Fluxx funder. What separates Fluxx from simpler grants tools is that it exposes its data model. Cards, themes, workflows and user roles are all configurable, and organisations can add objects and fields without vendor development work. For a funder with several distinct programmes, each with its own application form, review committee and payment schedule, this is the difference between one system and three. The commercial consequence is that Fluxx sells to funders with staff who can own the configuration, and it does badly with small foundations who expect it to work out of the box. Buyers are typically foundations making hundreds to thousands of grants a year, or intermediaries regranting on behalf of multiple funders. Pricing is quote-only and scales with assets under management and grant volume, and implementation is a separate professional services engagement usually run by Fluxx or a certified partner. The trade-off is real: you get a system that can model almost any funding process, at the cost of needing someone whose job is to maintain it.

What people use it for

  • A foundation running six distinct funding programmes that each need their own application form, review panel and payment schedule
  • A regranting intermediary administering funds for multiple donors who each require separate reporting
  • A public agency distributing grant funds with statutory eligibility rules that must be enforced before an application can be submitted
  • A funder moving off spreadsheets and email after grant volume made manual board packet preparation unworkable

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Fluxx.

  • Configuration flexibility means the system does very little until someone configures it, and foundations without a dedicated systems administrator end up paying the vendor or a partner for every change.
  • Implementation commonly runs four to eight months and is priced separately from the subscription, so first-year cost is far above the annual licence figure.
  • No pricing is published and quotes scale with assets under management, which means two foundations making the same number of grants can be quoted very differently.
  • The card-based interface is unfamiliar to new users and reviewer adoption suffers without training, which matters because trustees use it a few times a year and forget between meetings.
  • Reporting is capable but the report builder is technical, and many foundations end up exporting to a spreadsheet or a BI tool for board-ready output.

Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Is Fluxx Grantseeker really free?

Yes, for applicants. It is the submission portal, and funders pay for Grantmaker.

How is Fluxx priced?

By quote, scaling with assets under management and grant volume. Implementation is a separate professional services fee.

Can we configure Fluxx ourselves?

Yes, that is the point of it. But it requires a trained internal administrator; foundations that do not appoint one become dependent on paid services.

How long does implementation take?

Typically four to eight months for a multi-programme funder, driven mostly by how long the foundation takes to agree its own process.
