What Dyndrite does

Dyndrite is built on the Accelerated Computation Engine, a GPU-based geometry kernel that works on native CAD data rather than tessellated meshes. Its flagship application, LPBF Pro, prepares builds for metal laser powder bed fusion: orientation, supports, slicing and, critically, the laser scan strategy itself. The vendor claims file preparation time reductions of over ninety five per cent on large or highly repetitive builds, which is where a mesh-based tool spends hours. The distinguishing capability is programmable toolpaths. Everything in Dyndrite is exposed through a Python API, so a materials engineer can define a custom scan strategy, apply it conditionally by region, geometry or thermal condition, and version it like code. Machine vendor software generally offers a fixed set of parameters. For an organisation qualifying a new alloy or trying to push productivity beyond an OEM default, that difference is the whole reason to buy. It also produces equivalent build files across machines from Aconity3D, Additive Industries, EOS, Nikon SLM Solutions, Renishaw, Velo3D and Xact Metal, which lets a process developed on one machine be transferred rather than redeveloped. Buyers are metal AM research groups, aerospace and medical production teams and machine OEMs; Nikon SLM Solutions resells LPBF Pro in its own catalogue. The trade-off is that this is a specialist tool for people who write code, with no public pricing and a small user community to learn from.

  • It requires a supported NVIDIA GPU, which rules out the shared virtual desktops many manufacturing IT departments standardise on and adds a hardware line to the purchase.
