The short version
- Each has a real cost: Fictiv this is a manufacturing service, not software you licence, so there is nothing to deploy or own and switching means re-sourcing parts rather than exporting data.; SKF Enlight Centre no pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- They diverge on capability: Fictiv covers Instant CAD quoting, SKF Enlight Centre covers Asset-based interface.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Fictiv

SKF Enlight Centre
- A shipowner monitoring auxiliary engines, purifiers and pumps across a fleet without a vibration analyst on each vesselnot Fictiv
- A plant already standardised on SKF bearings that wants failure-mode diagnosis from the bearing manufacturernot Fictiv
- An operator replacing paper-based handheld routes with ProCollect while keeping the same measurement pointsnot Fictiv
- A site in a hazardous classified area needing certified wireless sensing rather than manual data collectionnot Fictiv
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Fictiv
- This is a manufacturing service, not software you licence, so there is nothing to deploy or own and switching means re-sourcing parts rather than exporting data.
- A broker sits between you and the shop cutting your part, so at stable production volumes direct sourcing usually beats the platform price and the platform knows it.
- You do not choose or generally know the specific supplier, which makes process control, supplier audits and traceability harder in regulated or aerospace work.
- MISUMI completed a $350 million acquisition in June 2025, so roadmap and pricing now answer to a Japanese industrial components group rather than to an independent platform strategy.
- Instant quotes are geometry-driven and complex or tightly toleranced parts drop into engineer review, so the speed advantage that justified the choice disappears exactly on the parts that are hardest to source.
SKF Enlight Centre
- No pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- The platform is built for SKF sensing hardware, so third-party sensors are poorly served and you are effectively committing to SKF for the life of the installation.
- Remote diagnostic services are a separate ongoing contract, and without them the platform gives you data rather than verdicts, which most buyers of Enlight Centre do not have the staff to interpret.
- SKF has run overlapping condition monitoring products including @ptitude Observer and Enlight AI, and the boundaries between them have shifted over time, which makes long-term product roadmap commitments hard to read.
- Battery-powered wireless sensors on shipboard or high-vibration installations need periodic replacement, and that maintenance burden falls on crews who were the reason you automated collection in the first place.

- Fictiv starts at On request and SKF Enlight Centre at On request.
- Does Fictiv or SKF Enlight Centre run on more platforms?
- Fictiv runs on Web, Cloud. SKF Enlight Centre runs on Web, iOS, Android.
- What is Fictiv best used for?
- Fictiv is most often used for an engineering team needing machined prototypes in days without qualifying a machine shop first, moving a part between regions to change landed cost or tariff exposure without re-sourcing a supplier, bridge production between prototype tooling and a committed high-volume supplier, getting design-for-manufacturing feedback on a part before committing to injection mould tooling. Of those, an engineering team needing machined prototypes in days without qualifying a machine shop first and moving a part between regions to change landed cost or tariff exposure without re-sourcing a supplier are not what SKF Enlight Centre is typically brought in for.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Fictiv: Is Fictiv software I can buy?
No. It is an on-demand manufacturing service with a quoting and order management platform. You pay for parts, not for the software.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is Enlight Centre a single product or a family?
SKF Enlight is a family. Enlight Centre is the web software; Enlight Collect IMx-1 is the wireless sensing hardware and Enlight AI is a separate analytics product.
Fictiv: Is Fictiv still independent?
No. MISUMI Group completed its acquisition, valued at $350 million, in June 2025. Fictiv continues to trade under its own name.
SKF Enlight Centre: Can I use non-SKF sensors?
Not meaningfully. The platform is designed around SKF sensing hardware and SKF service delivery.
Fictiv: Do I know which factory makes my part?
Generally not. Fictiv manages a vetted network and allocates work within it, which is a limitation if your quality system requires named and audited suppliers.
SKF Enlight Centre: Does SKF analyse the data for me?
Only under a remote diagnostic services contract with an SKF Rotating Equipment Performance Centre, priced separately.
Fictiv: Is it cheaper than sourcing directly?
For prototypes and low volumes, usually yes once you count the cost of finding and qualifying a supplier. At stable production volumes, direct sourcing is normally cheaper.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is it suitable for ships?
Yes, marine is one of its primary segments and it is designed for intermittent satellite connectivity.
