The short version
- Each has a real cost: Autodesk Netfabb netfabb Ultimate has been retired outright, with no 2026 release and no renewals, so anyone who bought Ultimate is frozen on the 2025.1 build and must accept the repackaged Netfabb instead.; SKF Enlight Centre no pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- They diverge on capability: Autodesk Netfabb covers Mesh repair, SKF Enlight Centre covers Asset-based interface.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Autodesk Netfabb
- A metal additive bureau predicting distortion on a laser powder bed build before committing twenty hours of machine timenot SKF Enlight Centre
- An aerospace supplier applying automatic geometry compensation so printed parts land within tolerance without iterative trial buildsnot SKF Enlight Centre
- A production department nesting hundreds of small parts into a single polymer build to raise volume utilisationnot SKF Enlight Centre
- An engineering team that already subscribes to Fusion and wants AM preparation without adding a second vendornot SKF Enlight Centre
SKF Enlight Centre
- A shipowner monitoring auxiliary engines, purifiers and pumps across a fleet without a vibration analyst on each vesselnot Autodesk Netfabb
- A plant already standardised on SKF bearings that wants failure-mode diagnosis from the bearing manufacturernot Autodesk Netfabb
- An operator replacing paper-based handheld routes with ProCollect while keeping the same measurement pointsnot Autodesk Netfabb
- A site in a hazardous classified area needing certified wireless sensing rather than manual data collectionnot Autodesk Netfabb
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Autodesk Netfabb
- Netfabb Ultimate has been retired outright, with no 2026 release and no renewals, so anyone who bought Ultimate is frozen on the 2025.1 build and must accept the repackaged Netfabb instead.
- Autodesk has ended development of the Selective Space Structures, Optimization Utility and Lattice Topology utilities, which removes capability some customers specifically bought the product for.
- It is now only sold bundled as Autodesk Fusion with Netfabb, so a shop that has standardised on other CAD pays for Fusion entitlements it will not use.
- At around 4,415 US dollars per seat per year it is far above slicer-class tools, and the pricing is per named user with no floating option in the standard subscription, which hurts teams where the AM engineer role is shared.
- Machine coverage is broad but not universal, and the newest printers from smaller manufacturers often reach their vendor own preparation software long before a Netfabb profile appears.
SKF Enlight Centre
- No pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- The platform is built for SKF sensing hardware, so third-party sensors are poorly served and you are effectively committing to SKF for the life of the installation.
- Remote diagnostic services are a separate ongoing contract, and without them the platform gives you data rather than verdicts, which most buyers of Enlight Centre do not have the staff to interpret.
- SKF has run overlapping condition monitoring products including @ptitude Observer and Enlight AI, and the boundaries between them have shifted over time, which makes long-term product roadmap commitments hard to read.
- Battery-powered wireless sensors on shipboard or high-vibration installations need periodic replacement, and that maintenance burden falls on crews who were the reason you automated collection in the first place.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Autodesk Netfabb: Is Netfabb discontinued?
No, but Netfabb Ultimate is. There is a 2026 release of Netfabb, sold only as Autodesk Fusion with Netfabb. Ultimate licences cannot be renewed.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is Enlight Centre a single product or a family?
SKF Enlight is a family. Enlight Centre is the web software; Enlight Collect IMx-1 is the wireless sensing hardware and Enlight AI is a separate analytics product.
Autodesk Netfabb: What does it cost?
The Fusion with Netfabb single-user subscription is listed at roughly 4,415 US dollars a year. Netfabb Simulation is quoted separately.
SKF Enlight Centre: Can I use non-SKF sensors?
Not meaningfully. The platform is designed around SKF sensing hardware and SKF service delivery.
Autodesk Netfabb: Is there a perpetual licence?
No. Autodesk sells subscription only across its product range.
SKF Enlight Centre: Does SKF analyse the data for me?
Only under a remote diagnostic services contract with an SKF Rotating Equipment Performance Centre, priced separately.
Autodesk Netfabb: Do I need Fusion to use it?
You do not have to use Fusion, but you now pay for it, because the bundle is the only way Netfabb is sold.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is it suitable for ships?
Yes, marine is one of its primary segments and it is designed for intermittent satellite connectivity.
