The short version
- Each has a real cost: Oqton 3D Systems sold the Geomagic portfolio to Hexagon in April 2025, so buyers who chose Oqton for an end-to-end scanning-to-production suite now deal with two separate vendors and two roadmaps.; SKF Enlight Centre no pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- They diverge on capability: Oqton covers Manufacturing OS, SKF Enlight Centre covers Asset-based interface.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Oqton
- 3D Systems sold the Geomagic portfolio to Hexagon in April 2025, so buyers who chose Oqton for an end-to-end scanning-to-production suite now deal with two separate vendors and two roadmaps.
- No pricing is published, and licensing is split between the manufacturing OS and separately licensed build preparation modules, so the quoted figure is rarely the full cost.
- Support is deepest on 3D Systems hardware despite multi-vendor claims, so a mixed fleet gets uneven data capture and control.
- The parent company has been under financial pressure and has already divested a major software line, which is a genuine continuity risk for a system running a production floor.
- It is additive-only, so a manufacturer with mixed processes needs a conventional MES alongside it and an integration between the two.
SKF Enlight Centre
- No pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- The platform is built for SKF sensing hardware, so third-party sensors are poorly served and you are effectively committing to SKF for the life of the installation.
- Remote diagnostic services are a separate ongoing contract, and without them the platform gives you data rather than verdicts, which most buyers of Enlight Centre do not have the staff to interpret.
- SKF has run overlapping condition monitoring products including @ptitude Observer and Enlight AI, and the boundaries between them have shifted over time, which makes long-term product roadmap commitments hard to read.
- Battery-powered wireless sensors on shipboard or high-vibration installations need periodic replacement, and that maintenance burden falls on crews who were the reason you automated collection in the first place.

Questions people ask
- Is Oqton or SKF Enlight Centre better?
- Neither clearly leads. Oqton starts at On request and SKF Enlight Centre at On request, and user ratings are close enough to be indistinguishable. Choose on capability and platform support.
- Which is cheaper, Oqton or SKF Enlight Centre?
- Oqton starts at On request and SKF Enlight Centre at On request.
- Does Oqton or SKF Enlight Centre run on more platforms?
- Oqton runs on Web, Windows, API. SKF Enlight Centre runs on Web, iOS, Android.
- What is Oqton best used for?
- Oqton is most often used for a metal additive production site scheduling builds across several machines rather than per operator, a dental manufacturer needing batch to part traceability for regulated devices, a 3d systems printer customer moving from prototyping to serial production, a factory automating build nesting to raise platform utilisation. Of those, a metal additive production site scheduling builds across several machines rather than per operator and a dental manufacturer needing batch to part traceability for regulated devices are not what SKF Enlight Centre is typically brought in for.

- Oqton covers Manufacturing OS, Build preparation, Machine connectivity, Traceability. SKF Enlight Centre covers Asset-based interface, Enlight Collect IMx-1, Enlight ProCollect, Remote diagnostic services.
Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Oqton: Who owns Oqton?
3D Systems, which acquired it in 2021 and made it the central software brand.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is Enlight Centre a single product or a family?
SKF Enlight is a family. Enlight Centre is the web software; Enlight Collect IMx-1 is the wireless sensing hardware and Enlight AI is a separate analytics product.
Oqton: Did Oqton include Geomagic?
It did. 3D Systems completed the sale of the Geomagic portfolio, including Design X, Control X, Freeform and Wrap, to Hexagon for $123 million in April 2025. Oqton retained 3D Sprint, 3DXpert and the Manufacturing OS.
SKF Enlight Centre: Can I use non-SKF sensors?
Not meaningfully. The platform is designed around SKF sensing hardware and SKF service delivery.
Oqton: Does Oqton work with printers from other manufacturers?
It connects to multi-vendor equipment, but the deepest integration and support is on 3D Systems machines.
SKF Enlight Centre: Does SKF analyse the data for me?
Only under a remote diagnostic services contract with an SKF Rotating Equipment Performance Centre, priced separately.
Oqton: How much does it cost?
Not published. It is quoted annually, typically on connected machines and sites, with build preparation modules licensed separately.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is it suitable for ships?
Yes, marine is one of its primary segments and it is designed for intermittent satellite connectivity.
