TrueLayer: If you want a UK and European pay by bank provider with a strong data offering alongside

Account-to-account pay by bank across Europe, the UK, Brazil and Australia
As of 1 September 2026, Volt's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A pay-by-bank gateway that routes real-time bank transfers instead of card payments, which cuts merchant fees but removes chargebacks. Softwr lists it under APIs. Volt is made by Volt Technology Ltd, available on Web, REST API.
Overview
Volt initiates account-to-account payments through open banking rails, so a shopper authorises a transfer from their bank app rather than entering card details. It aggregates connectivity across European, UK, Brazilian and Australian banks under a single API, adds settlement accounts and virtual IBANs so merchants receive consolidated funds, and offers Circuit Breaker fraud tooling, refunds, payouts and account verification as separate paid services. The economics are the reason merchants look at it: bank transfers cost a fixed fee per transaction rather than a percentage of value, so a high-average-value merchant can cut acquiring cost sharply. The catch is what disappears with the card: there are no chargebacks, so buyer disputes fall outside the scheme protection that consumers and merchants are used to, and refunds are a separate outbound payment rather than a reversal. Volt added stablecoin acceptance in February 2026, extending the same argument, low fee and irreversible, into digital assets. Buyers are ecommerce merchants, iGaming operators, travel sellers and any business with high average order values and thin card margins. The trade-off is conversion: pay by bank still asks a customer to complete a bank authentication flow, and drop-off is higher than a saved card.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Volt.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

As a separate outbound payment initiated by the merchant, which Volt charges for separately from the inbound transaction.
