Tribe Payments

Combined issuer and acquirer processing platform for fintechs, banks and acquirers

As of 1 September 2026, Tribe Payments's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A card processing platform, built on its own ISAAC core, that covers both issuing and acquiring rather than one side of card processing alone, which lets a payments business consolidate two vendor relationships into one. Softwr lists it under APIs. Tribe Payments is available on Web, API.

Overview

What Tribe Payments does

Tribe Payments runs a cloud-based processing platform, ISAAC, that supports both issuer processing (helping a business launch debit, credit or prepaid cards) and acquirer processing (helping a business accept card payments as a merchant acquirer), plus open banking, digital banking and fraud and risk monitoring modules, connected to Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, JCB and UnionPay. The distinguishing fact is scope: most processors specialise in issuing or acquiring, not both, and Tribe built its acquiring capability from 2020 onward specifically to let a single client run both sides of card processing on one platform rather than integrating two separate vendors. That matters most for a bank, fintech or payment facilitator that both issues its own cards and wants to acquire merchant transactions. Buyers are banks, fintechs and payment facilitators in the UK and continental Europe, with an expanding footprint in Asia-Pacific through its Singapore office. The trade-off is that combining issuing and acquiring on one vendor concentrates operational risk: an outage or fault in Tribe's platform affects both sides of a client's card business simultaneously, rather than only one, and pricing is not published for either side.

What people use it for

  • A bank or fintech wanting to run both card issuing and merchant acquiring on one processing platform
  • A payment facilitator consolidating separate issuing and acquiring vendor relationships into one contract
  • A company needing multi-scheme processing across Visa, Mastercard and regional networks like UnionPay
  • An Asia-Pacific expansion where Tribe's Singapore office provides regional support

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Tribe Payments.

  • Running both issuing and acquiring through one vendor concentrates operational risk, since a platform fault affects both sides of a client's card business at once rather than just one.
  • Pricing for either the issuing or acquiring modules is not published, so budgeting requires a sales conversation.
  • With roughly 60-plus customers, it is smaller scale than Visa or Mastercard-owned processing infrastructure, which is a factor for a client prioritising vendor size and track record.
  • Its client base and support depth are concentrated in the UK and continental Europe, and the Asia-Pacific presence via Singapore is comparatively newer and less proven.
  • As with any combined issuing and acquiring platform, a client that only needs one side still evaluates and pays for a vendor built around doing both, which may not be the most specialised option available.
