Jira: If your requirements are effectively work items and you need traceability rather than parametric budgets

Requirements and systems engineering for hardware teams, with published per-seat pricing
As of 31 August 2026, Valispace starts at $999/year. A browser-based requirements and systems engineering tool where requirements carry live numeric values that propagate through budgets and analyses. Softwr lists it under Research. Valispace is made by Valispace GmbH, part of Altium (Renesas Electronics), available on Web, On-premise, API.
Overview
Valispace is a systems engineering environment for hardware development. Requirements, components, verification and validation activities and engineering analyses live in one linked model, and the numbers inside them are live objects rather than text. A mass requirement referencing a subsystem value updates when that subsystem changes, so mass, power and link budgets stay current instead of being rebuilt in a spreadsheet before every review. That parametric behaviour is the difference from document-centric requirements tools. In aerospace and defence the alternative has historically been a heavyweight requirements database plus a set of margin spreadsheets that nobody trusts by month three. Valispace collapses those into one place, which is why it took hold with satellite, launcher, drone and other small hardware teams who cannot staff a configuration management office. The ownership story is the fact that should change a shortlist. Altium acquired Valispace at the end of 2023, and Renesas acquired Altium in 2024, so this tool now sits inside a semiconductor company. The technology has been repackaged as the Altium Requirements Portal on Altium 365, aimed at pulling requirements management into the electronics design stack. Valispace continues to be sold under its own name with its own pricing page, but buyers should ask directly how long the standalone product line will be maintained separately from the Altium 365 version.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Valispace.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
Altium acquired it in December 2023, and Renesas Electronics acquired Altium in 2024. It is therefore a Renesas-owned product, despite frequent reports elsewhere linking it to defence groups.
They share a lineage. Requirements Portal is the Altium 365 packaging of Valispace technology. The standalone Valispace product is still sold with its own pricing.
999 US dollars per user per year with a minimum of three users, billed annually. Enterprise with on-premise deployment is quoted separately.
For small and mid-sized hardware programmes, often yes. For programmes with contractual tool mandates, no.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Valispace, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
