AI digital pathology across clinical, veterinary and environmental laboratory disciplines
As of 1 September 2026, Techcyte's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Techcyte runs AI over digitised slides for parasitology, cytology, haematology, urinalysis and microbiology, plus a veterinary platform called Vetcyte. Softwr lists it under Healthcare. Techcyte is made by Techcyte, Inc., available on Web.
Overview
Techcyte is a Utah company selling AI assisted digital pathology across an unusually wide set of disciplines. Where most pathology AI vendors concentrate on histology and oncology, Techcyte covers parasitology, cervical cytology, general cytology, haematology, urinalysis, bacteriology, mycology, frozen section and infectious disease fluorescence, and it also serves veterinary and environmental laboratories. Vetcyte is its veterinary platform, taking scanned blood and faecal samples and running deep learning analysis for animal health laboratories. The regulatory position is the fact that changes a shortlist, and it runs the opposite way to what buyers expect. Techcyte solutions are CE marked and deployed clinically across Europe, while several of its United States offerings, including the Fusion Parasitology Suite, are labelled for research use only and not for diagnostic use in the United States. An American laboratory reading a case study about clinical deployment in Europe is reading about a permission it does not have. Any American buyer must ask, product by product, whether that specific module is cleared or research use only in the United States. Buyers are clinical laboratories under staffing pressure in high volume manual microscopy disciplines, veterinary reference laboratories and environmental testing laboratories. The trade off is that digital microscopy needs a scanner capable of the right modality, and slide scanning for parasitology or haematology is a different technical problem from histology scanning. Laboratories that already own a histology scanner often find it cannot produce the multi plane images these disciplines need, and the hardware becomes the largest unplanned cost.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Techcyte.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Not uniformly. Several United States offerings, including the Fusion Parasitology Suite, are labelled research use only and not for diagnostic use in the United States. Check the regulatory status of each specific module for your country before purchase.
Techcyte solutions are CE marked and clinically deployed across Europe, which is where its regulatory position is strongest. Confirm the current certificate for the specific module.
No. AI pre screens and prioritises, but a qualified reviewer still releases results. The saving is in review time per slide.
Techcyte works with several scanner vendors, but disciplines such as parasitology and haematology need multi plane imaging that many histology scanners cannot produce, so confirm hardware compatibility early.
