Verizon Connect: A similar mid-market North American telematics platform with a larger support organisation

US small-fleet telematics now absorbed into Michelin Connected Fleet
As of 31 August 2026, NexTraq's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. An Atlanta telematics business bought by Michelin from FLEETCOR in 2017 and progressively folded into the Michelin Connected Fleet brand alongside Masternaut and Sascar. Softwr lists it under Fleet Management. NexTraq is made by Michelin Connected Fleet, available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
NexTraq provides GPS vehicle tracking, hours of service logging, fuel and idling reporting, maintenance scheduling and job dispatch for small and mid-size North American fleets, typically in construction, field service, distribution and trades. The device is a hardwired or OBD-II tracker feeding a web console with mobile apps for drivers and supervisors. The fact that should shape any purchase decision is ownership. FLEETCOR sold NexTraq to Michelin in 2017 for a figure reported at around 316 million dollars. Michelin had already bought Sascar in Brazil and went on to take full control of Masternaut in Europe, then brought the three under the Michelin Connected Fleet name. For a buyer this is not branding trivia. Consolidating three separately built telematics platforms onto a shared architecture is a multi-year exercise, and it determines whether the product you sign for today is the one you will be running in three years, whether your integrations survive a migration, and whether the support team you are introduced to still exists after the next reorganisation. The underlying product is solid but unremarkable small-fleet telematics: adequate compliance, reasonable dispatch, competent reporting, nothing that a buyer could not get from several competitors. The reason to choose it is a Michelin relationship or a tyre and fleet services bundle that makes the total cost work. The reason to avoid it is that the roadmap belongs to a corporate integration plan rather than to the product itself.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about NexTraq.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

No. Michelin bought it in 2017 and has folded it into Michelin Connected Fleet, together with Masternaut in Europe and Sascar in Brazil.
Assume so, eventually. Ask directly what the migration timetable is, what happens to historical data, and who bears the cost of re-fitting or re-configuring devices.
It is worth testing. The commercial logic of the acquisition is bundling vehicle services, and that is where discounting is most likely to be available.
