Vehicle tracking for small and mid-size fleets with no long-term contract
As of 31 August 2026, GPS Trackit's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A US tracking vendor whose main commercial argument is the absence of a three-year lock-in. Softwr lists it under Fleet Management. GPS Trackit is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
GPS Trackit sells GPS vehicle tracking, driver behaviour reporting, basic maintenance reminders and the VidFleet camera line to small and mid-size commercial fleets in the United States. Devices are mostly OBD-II plug-in units that a fleet can fit itself, with hardwired options for vehicles without a suitable port. The console covers live maps, geofences, alerting, timesheet-style reporting and fuel usage. The commercial model is the point of difference. Most of the telematics market subsidises hardware inside a 36 month agreement, which means a fleet that shrinks, restructures or simply loses interest keeps paying for devices it does not use. GPS Trackit sells month to month, so the exit is available at any point, and the hardware is either returned or charged for rather than trapping the customer in a term. Buyers should be clear about what that costs: spread across three years, a no-contract subscription is usually the more expensive option in absolute terms. What it buys is the ability to stop paying when a job ends or a contract is lost, which for seasonal and project-based fleets is worth more than the headline saving. The typical customer runs between ten and two hundred vehicles in construction, landscaping, plumbing, pest control or local delivery. The trade-off is depth. This is competent tracking with a light maintenance module, not a platform with an ecosystem, an open data model or serious compliance tooling. Fleets that grow past a few hundred vehicles or acquire regulated long-haul operations generally outgrow it.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about GPS Trackit.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

The subscription is month to month, but read the hardware terms. Devices are supplied on the expectation they come back, and unreturned units are charged for.
Generally higher per vehicle, because those vendors discount in exchange for the commitment. The comparison only favours GPS Trackit if you value the ability to leave.
A plug-in OBD-II device can be removed in seconds. The system reports the disconnection, but enforcement is a management problem, not a technical one. Hardwired units are available for fleets where this matters.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for GPS Trackit, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
