Zonar Systems, founded in 2001, sells telematics for heavy vocational fleets and pupil transportation. The product set covers GPS tracking on the V4 telematics device, electronic hours of service logging, fault code monitoring, student ridership tracking through the Z Pass card system, and a parent-facing arrival app used by school districts. The capability that separates it is EVIR, electronic verified inspection reporting. Rather than trusting a driver to tick boxes on a screen, Zonar mounts RFID tags at defined zones around the vehicle. The handheld or tablet must be brought within range of each tag in sequence, so the inspection record carries physical proof that someone walked the vehicle.
