Plausible: If you want cookieless analytics from a company whose only product is analytics, with an open source self-hosting option

Cookieless web analytics that also reports the carbon footprint of your website
As of 31 August 2026, Cabin has a free plan and paid plans start at $14/month. Cabin is a privacy-first analytics tool from a London design studio that measures visits without cookies and estimates the CO2 your pages emit. Softwr lists it under Business Intelligence. Cabin is made by Normally, available on Web.
Overview
Cabin is a 1.2 kilobyte script that records page views and events without cookies, without cross-site identifiers and without a consent banner, storing data in the EU. Its dashboard covers the usual referrers, pages, countries and devices, plus custom events on paid plans, and every tier includes MCP access so an AI assistant can query the data directly. The distinguishing feature is carbon accounting. Cabin uses the CO2.js methodology to convert bytes transferred into emissions estimates, factoring in network, device and data centre energy, and tracks that figure over time so you can see whether a page weight reduction actually moved it. For an organisation with a public sustainability commitment, that turns a website performance argument into a reportable number, which is a different conversation with a finance or ESG team than page speed alone. Buyers are agencies, sustainability-conscious brands and small teams replacing Google Analytics. The trade offs follow from the design: it is a lightweight tool, so there is no funnel analysis, no cohort retention and no session replay, and the carbon figures are modelled estimates rather than measurements. Note also that Cabin was built at Normally, a London research and design studio, so it is a studio product rather than a venture-backed company with a large roadmap behind it.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Cabin.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Fathom Analytics: If you want a similarly simple privacy-first tool with EU isolation and a longer commercial track record

Matomo: If you need deeper analysis including funnels and heatmaps and are willing to self-host to keep the data

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
No. It sets no cookies and collects no cross-site identifiers, and data is stored in the EU, which is the specific reason most buyers switch to it.
It is an estimate derived from data transfer using the CO2.js model. It is reliable for tracking change over time on your own site and unsuitable as an audited emissions figure.
It was built at Normally, a research and design studio in London, out of work on data, privacy and the carbon footprint of digital products.
For traffic, referrer and event reporting, yes. For advertising attribution, audience building and funnel analysis, no.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Cabin, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
