Overview
B2W Estimate is a database-driven estimating and bidding system for heavy civil and utility contractors. Rather than pricing line items from a unit cost book, it builds a bid from crews, equipment, materials and production rates, so changing a crew composition or a daily output ripples through every affected item. It handles alternates, addenda, DOT electronic bid file formats and multi-estimator concurrent work on the same bid. What distinguishes it commercially is that estimating is the entry point to a suite. B2W also sells Track for field logging, Schedule for crew and equipment dispatch, Maintain for fleet maintenance and Inform for reporting, all on the same resource database. The point is that the crew and equipment rates used to win the job become the rates used to measure it in the field, which is the thing spreadsheet estimators cannot do. That also means the software gets meaningfully more useful, and meaningfully more expensive, the more modules you take. B2W was acquired by Trimble in 2022 and now sits in the Trimble Construction lineup, so roadmap direction is set by Trimble's wider civil strategy rather than by an independent vendor. Buyers are self-performing heavy civil contractors bidding public work, typically 50 million dollars of revenue and up, where a single estimator error on a production rate costs more than the software. The trade-off is setup: the resource database has to be populated with your own crews, equipment and rates before the system is worth anything, and that is months of work by someone senior.

Current sales are subscription based. Existing perpetual customers have been migrated toward subscription, so treat a perpetual arrangement as something to negotiate rather than assume.
Both are production-rate estimators for heavy civil. B2W's argument is the shared resource database across estimating, field tracking, dispatch and maintenance; HeavyBid's is depth of bidding features and a large installed base in highway work.
