What Siteline does
Siteline manages accounts receivable for speciality subcontractors: schedule of values setup, monthly pay applications in whatever format each general contractor demands, lien waiver collection from the contractor and its own lower tier suppliers, compliance document tracking and visibility of where each billing sits in the approval chain. It reads job and cost data from construction accounting systems including Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, Foundation and similar platforms, and does not attempt to replace them. The segmentation is explicit and it is the reason the product works. It serves the speciality subcontractor only. A general contractor receives pay applications; a subcontractor submits them, on the general contractor forms, through the general contractor portal, with the specific waiver language that project requires. That work is done by a small billing team every month under time pressure, and it is one of the few construction back office functions still done largely by hand with spreadsheets and scanned PDFs. Building for one side of the transaction lets the product handle the format variation that a two-sided tool would have to compromise on. The commercial case is cash flow rather than headcount. Subcontractors finance the work in progress, and a pay application rejected for a missing waiver costs a month of cash. Reducing rejected and delayed billings has a direct effect on days sales outstanding, which is the number to measure in a trial. The constraints are that it depends on a clean integration to your accounting system, that it does not do job costing or project management, and that general contractor portals change without notice, which is a maintenance burden the vendor absorbs but cannot eliminate.

- It serves subcontractors only, so a general contractor evaluating it is looking at the wrong side of the transaction entirely.
- It does not do job costing, project management or payroll, so it is an addition to your systems rather than a consolidation of them.
- Value depends on a clean integration to your construction accounting system, and contractors with heavily customised or elderly installations should confirm the connection before signing.
- General contractor portals and billing formats change without warning, and although the vendor absorbs that maintenance you still feel it as occasional friction in a month-end window with no slack.
- The billing team has to adopt it fully in the first month-end or they revert to spreadsheets under deadline pressure, which makes the implementation timing more delicate than the software suggests.
