Sila

US money movement API for ACH, RTP and FedNow with KYC and ledgering built in

As of 31 August 2026, Sila's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Sila gives a fintech a single API for US bank transfers plus the identity checks and ledger that normally have to be bought separately. Softwr lists it under APIs. Sila is made by Sila Inc, available on Web, API.

Overview

What Sila does

Sila is a payments and money movement API for United States businesses. It covers ACH origination, real-time payments and FedNow, virtual accounts, an internal ledger for tracking balances between end users, and KYC and KYB identity verification at onboarding. The intent is that a fintech can hold, move and account for customer money through one integration rather than assembling a processor, an identity vendor and a ledger of its own. The distinguishing point is scope compression for small teams. Most competitors either give you rails and leave compliance and ledgering to you, or give you a full banking-as-a-service stack with the pricing and diligence burden that implies. Sila sits between, and it has also moved towards selling its payment infrastructure to banks directly, as with its GBank integration replacing flat-file ACH processing with API-driven ACH, RTP and FedNow. That dual position, serving fintechs and modernising bank back ends, is unusual and matters because it gives Sila a revenue line that does not depend on the fintech sponsor-bank market that contracted sharply after 2023. Buyers should treat the sponsor bank question as the first item on the agenda, not the last. Sila has worked through partner banks including Evolve Bank and Trust, and the regulatory turbulence around bank-fintech partnerships means the identity and condition of the bank behind your accounts affects your product more than any API detail. Sila publishes no rate card, so expect a quoted arrangement with per-transaction pricing and probably a monthly minimum, and expect diligence on your compliance programme before you go live.

What people use it for

  • A small fintech that needs ACH, identity verification and a ledger from one vendor because it has no compliance team to assemble three
  • A marketplace paying out to sellers that wants same-day ACH and instant push options without becoming a money transmitter itself
  • A community bank replacing batch file ACH processing with an API so it can offer real-time payments to business customers
  • A lending platform that must verify business identity, disburse funds and collect repayments on a schedule from a single integration

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Sila.

  • No pricing is published, so you cannot compare Sila against Moov or Dwolla without entering two sales processes, and small programmes frequently find the monthly minimum dominates their cost at low volume.
  • Sila is materially smaller and less well capitalised than the banking-as-a-service names it competes with, which matters because your customer funds and your payment rails depend on the vendor still trading in three years.
  • The sponsor bank behind your programme determines what you can offer and how fast you can change it, and bank partnerships in this sector have been reshuffled repeatedly since 2023, so a bank change during your contract is a realistic risk rather than a theoretical one.
  • Coverage is United States only, so any product with cross-border ambitions needs a second payments vendor and a second reconciliation process from the outset.
  • Onboarding involves compliance diligence on your own programme, and teams routinely underestimate this, with weeks lost between signing and first live transaction while policies, flow of funds diagrams and BSA arrangements are reviewed.

Answered, with sources

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Does Sila require a sponsor bank?

Yes. Funds sit at a partner bank, and which bank that is affects your product features and your regulatory exposure, so ask before signing.

Is Sila still operating?

Yes. It continues to trade and announced an API integration with GBank in 2025 covering ACH, RTP and FedNow.

What does it cost?

Sila does not publish rates. Expect per-transaction pricing plus a monthly minimum, quoted after a compliance conversation.

Can I use it outside the United States?

No. Sila covers US rails only.
