Personio: A broader HR suite for European mid-market companies with payroll available through preferred providers

Native payroll and HR for small and mid-sized companies in a small number of European countries
As of 31 August 2026, PayFit's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A European payroll product that encodes each country legislation in its own purpose-built language, so the countries it covers are genuinely native payroll rather than partner aggregation. Softwr lists it under Payroll. PayFit is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
PayFit is a Paris-based payroll and HR platform founded in 2015 for small and mid-sized employers. It calculates payroll, produces payslips, handles statutory declarations, and adds time off, expenses and basic employee records so that a company under a few hundred people can run payroll without a bureau or an external accountant doing the calculation. The engineering decision that defines the product is JetLang, a domain-specific language the company built to express payroll rules. Country legislation is written as code in that language rather than configured in a generic engine, which means each supported country is real, in-house payroll calculation with direct statutory filing rather than a wrapper over a local partner. That distinction decides liability: when PayFit runs your French payroll, the calculation and the declaration are its own, whereas an aggregator passing your data to a local bureau leaves the accountability chain longer and less clear. The same decision caps expansion, because a new country is a legislative build, not a partner contract, and PayFit closed its German operation in 2023 rather than carry a market it could not serve profitably. Buyers are French, Spanish, Italian and UK companies of roughly 10 to 250 employees replacing a payroll bureau or spreadsheets. The trade-off is scope: this is not a platform for a multinational, there is no employer of record, and the HR modules are adequate rather than a substitute for an HRIS. A company employing across ten countries will end up with PayFit for a few and something else for the rest.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about PayFit.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
It runs its own payroll engine for the countries it sells in, currently France, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom, and it closed its German operation in 2023.
Native. Country rules are written and maintained in the company own domain-specific language, so calculation and filing are PayFit responsibilities rather than a partner obligation.
No. It is payroll software for entities you already have. Employment in a country without your own entity needs an employer of record.
Common French and Spanish agreements are supported, but unusual or heavily negotiated agreements can require manual handling.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for PayFit, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
