Rain Instant Pay: If your workforce is in the United States and you want a free slow transfer option

Financial wellbeing platform with flexible pay, savings and coaching for UK and US employers
As of 1 September 2026, Wagestream's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A UK financial wellbeing platform where employees pay a flat fee, around 1. Softwr lists it under Payroll. Wagestream is made by Wagestream Ltd, available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Wagestream connects to payroll and rostering systems so employees can see wages accrue in real time, transfer a portion before payday, build savings directly from pay, track shifts and access financial coaching. Employers get take-up and wellbeing reporting. It operates in the UK, where it originated, and in the United States. The employee fee is the number that decides whether this is a benefit or a cost shifted onto staff. Transfers carry a flat charge of roughly 1.95 pounds each, and employers can reduce or fully subsidise it. A worker taking two transfers a month pays around 47 pounds a year for early access to money already earned; an employer subsidising that for a thousand staff is choosing to pay tens of thousands. Wagestream positions itself around wellbeing rather than advances alone, and the savings and coaching modules are what distinguish it from pure earned wage access, but the transfer fee is still the mechanism that pays for the platform. Buyers are large UK employers with shift workforces in care, hospitality, retail and logistics, often with union or ESG scrutiny that makes the fee structure a live internal question. The trade-off is integration depth with payroll and rostering, and the risk that the benefit becomes a habit for the staff least able to afford the fee.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Wagestream.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

A flat fee of roughly 1.95 pounds per transfer, unless the employer subsidises part or all of it.
No. It is access to wages already earned, netted off at payroll, so there is no interest and no credit agreement.
Yes. Employer subsidy is a standard option and is the difference between a genuine benefit and a cost passed to staff.
