Applied Epic: If the priority is the agency management system itself and application handling is secondary; Indio then attaches to it

Digital commercial insurance applications and renewals for agencies and brokers
As of 31 August 2026, Indio's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Indio replaces emailed PDF ACORD applications with a client facing web form that carries answers forward at renewal. Softwr lists it under Insurance. Indio is made by Applied Systems, available on Web.
Overview
Indio is a commercial lines application and renewal tool. Instead of sending a client a stack of ACORD PDFs to print, sign and scan, the agency sends a link to a smart web form that maps a single answer to every form that asks for it, chases missing fields, collects electronic signatures and stores the completed submission. At renewal, last year is prefilled and the client confirms or amends rather than starting again, which is the whole commercial argument for the product. Applied Systems acquired Indio Technologies in 2019 and it now sits in the Applied digital agency portfolio alongside Applied Epic and Applied CSR24. It remains separately purchasable and separately branded, which is worth stating because several acquired insurtech tools in this space quietly became modules. The ownership matters for a different reason: the form library and prefill are most useful when client and policy data flow from an agency management system, and the tightest of those flows is into Applied Epic. Agencies on Vertafore, HawkSoft or a smaller system can use Indio, but they carry more manual data handling and lose part of the time saving that justifies the licence. Buyers are commercial lines agencies and brokers whose producers and account managers lose days each renewal season to chasing paperwork. The trade off is that Indio solves submission collection, not placement. It does not rate, does not market a submission to carriers and does not replace the management system, so it is an added line of cost on top of an existing stack rather than a consolidation. Pricing is quoted through Applied and is not published.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Indio.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Applied Epic: If the priority is the agency management system itself and application handling is secondary; Indio then attaches to it

EZLynx: If the agency is mostly personal lines, where comparative rating matters more than commercial application collection

Vertafore AMS360: If the agency is standardising on Vertafore, where Indio has less integration advantage

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
Yes. It is branded Indio by Applied Systems, retains its own site and is licensed separately from Applied Epic, though it is sold through the Applied commercial relationship.
No, but you get materially less from it without Epic. The bidirectional data flow that removes rekeying is deepest with Epic, and other management systems require more manual handling.
No. It collects and packages the application. Rating and market submission happen elsewhere.
Applied does not publish pricing. It is quoted by agency size and usually negotiated within a wider Applied contract, so ask for the standalone figure explicitly.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Indio, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
