The short version

  • Each has a real cost: Sight Machine onboarding is a data engineering project measured in months per plant, so value arrives long after the contract starts and the internal sponsor needs the patience and budget to survive that gap.; Verint thoma Bravo took Verint private in November 2025 and is combining it with the directly competing Calabrio, so buyers signing multi-year agreements now cannot know which of the two overlapping product lines survives as the strategic one.
  • They diverge on capability: Sight Machine covers Unified plant data model, Verint covers Workforce management.
  • Prices and features above were last checked on 31 August 2026.

What people use each for

The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.

Sight Machine

  • A corporate operations team that cannot compare plant performance because every site defines a stoppage differentlynot Verint
  • A manufacturer whose historian data is plentiful but has never been modelled into anything a business can querynot Verint
  • A group standardising manufacturing reporting into a cloud data warehouse alongside finance and supply chain datanot Verint
  • A quality organisation investigating a defect that appears at several plants with different equipmentnot Verint

Verint

  • A retail bank with 4,000 agents that must record and retain every advised sale under regulatory obligation and evidence retention on demandnot Sight Machine
  • A government service centre running an inherited Avaya estate that needs modern analytics without replacing the telephonynot Sight Machine
  • A multinational insurer forecasting across six sites and three languages where a spreadsheet-based rota has stopped scalingnot Sight Machine
  • An enterprise wanting analytics over one hundred per cent of interactions because sampled quality scoring keeps missing the failure modes that generate complaintsnot Sight Machine

Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

Sight Machine

  • Onboarding is a data engineering project measured in months per plant, so value arrives long after the contract starts and the internal sponsor needs the patience and budget to survive that gap.
  • It assumes the instrumentation already exists, so a plant whose machines produce no usable data gets nothing from a data platform and needs to solve connectivity first with a different class of product.
  • Pricing scales with plants and data volume and is never published, which puts it out of reach for single site manufacturers regardless of how relevant the capability sounds.
  • It is not an MES and does not control or execute anything, so it sits on top of the operational systems and adds a layer to maintain rather than replacing one.
  • Success depends on a central team that owns definitions and enforces them, and in groups where plants retain autonomy the standardisation the platform provides gets quietly ignored at site level.

Verint

  • Thoma Bravo took Verint private in November 2025 and is combining it with the directly competing Calabrio, so buyers signing multi-year agreements now cannot know which of the two overlapping product lines survives as the strategic one.
  • The catalogue is licensed piece by piece, including individually priced automation bots, so the quoted platform figure is rarely the figure you end up paying once the analytics, recording and bot modules are all in scope.
  • Implementations routinely run six to twelve months and effectively require a partner, which means the first year of a contract is spent paying for software that is not yet delivering.
  • The interface reflects two decades of accumulated enterprise features, and new supervisors need formal training to do things that a mid-market tool exposes in one screen.
  • It is priced and scoped for thousands of agents, so a 300-seat operation gets an enterprise contract, an enterprise implementation and enterprise complexity for a problem a lighter product would solve in weeks.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages

Sight Machine: Is this an OEE product?

It can produce OEE, but buying it for OEE alone is expensive. The reason to buy it is cross plant data standardisation.

Verint: Who owns Verint now?

Thoma Bravo, which completed a 2 billion US dollar take-private in November 2025 and is combining Verint with its existing portfolio company Calabrio.

Sight Machine: Does it need a historian?

It reads from historians, control systems and MES. Some source of machine data is a prerequisite.

Verint: Does that affect an existing contract?

Existing contracts continue, but roadmap and product overlap with Calabrio is unresolved. Ask for written commitments on support horizon and migration terms before renewing.

Sight Machine: How long does a plant take to onboard?

Plan in months per plant, depending on how many sources and how inconsistent the existing definitions are.

Verint: Do I have to replace my telephony?

No. Verint is deliberately platform-agnostic and is commonly deployed over Avaya, Cisco, Genesys and Amazon Connect estates.

Sight Machine: Who is the buyer?

A corporate manufacturing, quality or digital function. It is rarely a plant level purchase.

Verint: Is pricing published?

No. Verint sells multi-year enterprise agreements quoted per module and per agent, with professional services costed separately.
